Physical Rehab is a 30-bed inpatient acute physical rehabilitation and medical/surgical unit serving a variety of patient populations, including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, multi-medical diagnosis patients and some surgical patients.
A 37-bed progressive care unit, 2 East includes a mix of oncology, pulmonary and medical/surgical patients. At 2 East, we collaborate with hospitalists, oncologists and case managers to maximize the plan of care for our patients. We specialize in oncology, palliative and hospice care, and we share a unique appreciation in caring for end-of-life patients. This is a challenging and rewarding unit that requires critical thinking, time management and excellent communication skills.
2 North Innovations Unit is a 20-bed progressive care unit that cares for general medical patients. At 2 North, our team of dynamic health professionals is on the cutting edge of improving the patient experience and care outcomes through the exploration and adoption of new technologies, care delivery processes and patient care supplies.
A 37-bed progressive care unit, 3 East treats congestive heart failure, cardiac, pneumonia, diabetes, liver disease, respiratory and gastrointestinal patients. At 3 East, our team promotes optimal patient care in a collaborative environment, and provides quality nursing care — including ECG monitoring and assessment.
3 North/3 South
These units share 43 beds for telemetry/medical patients on a short stay or with outpatient orders. Working on these teams will give you the opportunity to collaborate with the Emergency Department and to provide care focused on limited diagnoses and treatment within a short time frame. Our expert team members are motivated to learn, able to prioritize care and can easily attend patients' needs.
4 East is a 37-bed surgical-cardiac progressive care unit. This team comprises a dynamic group of nurses and medical professionals who are committed to using evidence-based practices to provide the highest quality of care and respect to a culturally diverse patient population. At 4 East, we care for patients with a variety of illnesses — including congestive heart failure, renal failure and respiratory disease — that require cardiac monitoring. We are the specialty floor for CAPD, peripheral ultrafiltration (PUF), hemodialysis and surgical flap for reconstructive surgery.
A 33-bed surgical unit, 4 West focuses on orthopedic, neurosurgery and general surgery patients. This fast-paced unit excels in helping to heal patients after surgery. Our team is dedicated to excellence in quality patient care, consistent with outcome-driven goals, and to outstanding patient satisfaction through teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, positive nurse/physician relations and connections with our patients and their families.
5 East is a 37-bed neuro/stroke progressive care unit that focuses on the neurological management of patients. Sharp Grossmont Hospital is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center and one of the only hospitals in San Diego County with a specific unit dedicated to stroke care. At 5 East, our team members work with progressive care/telemetry levels of care and gain specialized skills in acute stroke care.
A 45-bed progressive care unit shared between 5 West (33 beds) and 2 South (12 beds), this specialized unit serves cardiac patients (including post-open-heart surgery and valve surgery patients), pulmonary patients and all stable (trach) vent patients. We provide specialized training for ventilators and epicardial pacing skills.
