$54.400 - $67.470 - $80.540The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp HealthCare and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL-CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.

To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.

Hours
Full-time; 12-hour shift; Night Shift; including every other weekend
Bonuses
- $5,000 Sign-on bonus AND $5,000 Relocation assistance for experienced PCU RNs
*Relocation Assistance is only for experienced PCU RNs - new hires coming from outside of San Diego County*
- Sharp employee may be eligible for a $2,500 Employee Referral Bonus
- $15K conversion bonus available for current Sharp HealthCare Travelers in lieu of any sign-on and relocation bonuses currently being offered by the department
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a U.S. state-approved and accredited nursing program
- Current unencumbered California RN license
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification for a healthcare provider
- For Neuro Stroke PCU - required certifications must be completed/submitted according to timeline e.g. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - within 90 days of hire
- One year RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
- One year RN experience in acute care: Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Stepdown/Progressive Care
- For TRANSITION IN PRACTICE (TIP Program): LTAC, SNF, Post Acute, Behavioral Health, Home Health, Urgent Care and Clinics within the last year
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Sharp Chula Vista Progressive Care Cardiac Surgery Unit 3T - Night Shift
Required: Graduate of nursing school; Current CA RN License, AHA BLS Preferred: BSN Bilingual English/Spanish
Purpose (of unit): Progressive Care Cardiac Surgery 3T Unit focuses on a wide variety of cardiac patients who need continuous cardiac monitoring
Top 5 Diagnoses: Acute myocardial infarction (chest pain, unstable angina), Congestive Heart Failure, Angioplasties, Hypertension, Diabetes. Renal Failure
Accreditation/Designations: Magnet, Planetree, PTAP
Point of Entry: On average, 70% of patients are admitted through the Emergency Department; 20% of patients are transferred from other units, and10% are admitted directly from the ambulatory setting or clinics

Sharp Chula Vista Progressive Care Unit Heart Failure 5E - Night Shift
Required: Graduate of nursing school; Current CA RN License, AHA BLS Preferred: BSN Bilingual English/Spanish
Purpose (of unit): Progressive Care Unit Heart Failure 5E is a 44-bed capacity patient care unit at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. The unit focuses on Heart Failure but can also care for a wide variety of cardiac patients who need continuous cardiac monitoring.
Top 5 Diagnoses: Myocardial infarction, chest pain, unstable angina, cath lab, angioplasty, hypertension, diabetes and renal failure
Accreditation/Designations: Magnet, Planetree, PTAP
Point of Entry: 85% of patients are admitted through the Emergency Department; 10% of the patients are transferred from other units including the OR and cath lab; 5% are admitted directly from the ambulatory setting or clinic.

Sharp Chula Vista Progressive Care Neuro - Stroke 4T - Night Shift
Required: Graduate of nursing school; Current CA RN License, AHA BLS Preferred: BSN Bilingual English/Spanish
Purpose (of unit): Progressive Care Neuro/Stroke 4T provides care for patients with stroke and other neurological disorders.
Top 5 Diagnoses: Stroke, (ischemic and hemorrhagic), TIA’s, ALOC, Chest pain, Chronic renal, Cardiomyopathy
Accreditation/Designations: Magnet, Planetree, PTAP
Point of Entry: 50% of the patients are admitted through the Emergency Department; 50% of patients are transferred from other units including the OR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Independently performs the nursing process through individualized assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, therapeutic, efficient care for patients with overt and subtle needs throughout the continuum of care, and according to unit's standards of care. Performs safe nursing care for patients in more complex situations with some assistance and supervision. Demonstrates competency in all areas of the unit skills and some advanced skills. May teach some skills competencies. Coordinates patient care administered by other members of the care team. May assume the responsibility of relief charge nurse and may assist with preceptorship/professional development of new nurses and students. Uses common equipment and medications safely in the practice setting and consults others when unfamiliar. Recognizes inconsistencies in patient care and manages potential complications. Demonstrates consistent organization and prioritization of workload; confident management of emergency situations. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Complies with all regulatory and accreditation standards. Demonstrates professional behavior through participation in unit activities and committees as appropriate. Delegates/assigns and communicates expectations for care delivery processes to each member of the team. Teaches skills as necessary. Coordinates patient care administered by other members of the nursing staff. Utilizes a variety of teaching/coaching strategies to assist family through disease process/experience.
