The Gift Shop Assistant will join a team of paid staff and volunteers to perform retail store duties. Responsibilities include; serving as a resource and trainer for volunteer work force in gift shop, modeling excellent customer service and upsell tactics, maintaining order in the store and storage room, covering open shifts as need arises, assisting with posting daily deposits, conducting physical inventories, unpacking, pricing and stocking new merchandise.
The ideal candidate will go above and beyond to meet the customers' needs, can interact respectfully with a wide range of people and personalities, takes direction well, but is also willing to contribute their ideas to the betterment of the shop, as a team player.
The Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Gift Shop is the major fund-raising project of the Sharp Chula Vista Auxiliary, which is the hospital's service and philanthropic organization. Approximately twenty volunteers provide the majority of sales support in the shop, and one full-time paid coordinator is responsible for the daily operations. Our quaint and unique shop attracts a variety of shoppers and sells a wide variety of quality gift items, cards, balloons, flowers, novelties and snacks to the hospital employees, visitors, patients and community.

This position is located in Chula Vista, San Diego County.
Variable shift, every weekend and variable week day hours.
Working hours vary between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days per week.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of POS Data System
- Excellent customer services skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- One year retail management experience
- Bilingual in Spanish
