The Health Care Assistant performs as the coordinator of communication for the unit and assumes primary responsibility for medical record management. The Health Care Assistant facilitates patient data management through transcription, order entry, and documentation. The Health Care Assistant supports best use of resources in management of equipment, supplies, and other department resources.
This position provides clerical support services for PAES AND OCEAN VIEW TOWER SURGICAL SERVICES; registers patients upon admission; coordinates information between departments and physician offices; orders and retrieves laboratory work; fax's to multiple locations; assembles patient medical data for next day surgery/procedure; assists nursing staff as needed; helps maintain departmental statistics; manages telephone communication; enters and retrieves data from Cerner; ensures the Sharp Experience for our patients, medical staff and co-workers; must work closely with nursing staff to achieve efficient patient throughput with minimal oversight by departmental leadership.
Ocean View Tower Surgical Services is a 12-bed area that admits all surgical and interventional radiology patients on day of procedure and discharges patients returning home same day. PAES is responsible for contacting patients up to 3 weeks prior to surgery in order to complete necessary testing and assessment prior to surgery.
