Responsibilities

Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN performs individualized nursing care for patients/families under the direction of an RN.  The Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN uses and practices basic assessment data collection, participates in planning, executes interventions in accordance with the Plan of Care and contributes to evaluation of outcomes.  The Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN communicates to ensure patient/family is educated to the Plan of Care and planned treatments. 

At Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, the Birch Patrick Convalescent Center combines quality clinical care with compassion to ease the transition and help patients live their lives to the fullest degrees of health and independence.  The quality lifetime care focuses not only on our patients' health, but on their social, emotional and spiritual well-being.

The Birch Patrick Convalescent Center provides 24-hour licensed nursing care; end-of-life care provided in conjunction with Sharp HospiceCare; occupational, speech and respiratory therapies; recreational activities; social services; spiritual support; and wound and ostomy consultation.  The clinical team includes registered and licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, affiliated physicians, volunteers, dietitians, rehabilitation therapists, social workers and chaplains who work side-by-side to provide quality patient care and assist patients with daily living activities.  The Birch Patrick Convalescent Center has a total of 100 beds.  The East wing houses long-term care patients and the West wing houses short-term care patients. Each unit has 50 beds.

This position is located in Chula Vista, San Diego County

 
Hours

Part Time position – Evening shift

3:00pm – 11:30pm

Including every other weekend

 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program/school or Navy Corps School
  • Current unencumbered California Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN licensure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
 
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • One year recent Long Term Care or Acute Care experience
  • Current IV and Blood Withdrawal certification
