The Surgery Scheduler is a part of the Pre Admission Evaluations Department which is made up ofSchedulers/Billers, Unit Clerks andnursing staff. The Scheduler not only works closely with physicians and their office staff, but also with their team ensure timely, accurate scheduling of surgical and procedural patients at Coronado Hospital. Attention to detail is an important quality and responsibilities include phone management, scheduling, medical record coordination and may include billing. Location: this position is located in Coronado of San Diego County.
Hours: Per Diem; 8 30 am - 5 pm (may need to come in as early as 730 am or as late as 9 am, depending on department needs. Weekends as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
One year experience within a hospital and/or medical setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to perform duties according to specific written and/or verbal instructions and to accurately maintain written records.
Effective and professional communication both written and verbal on all levels.
Intermediate computer skills with a typing speed of (55-60 wpm).
Computer skills to include knowledge of common database, spreadsheet, graphic and word processing.
Be able to deal with highly technical and sensitive information with confidentiality.
Must possess decision-making abilities and work independently.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work responsibilities.
Ability to multi-task.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Surgery Scheduling and billing.
- Bilingual; English/Spanish
