This position will include key job responsibilities of scheduling Outpatient Imaging exams for our patients. A part of those functions include: completing patient registration, insurance verification and the ability to make decisions on compliance and physician orders. Taking incoming calls, making outgoing calls based on physician orders in On-base with a high level of quality service in every circumstance. This is a very busy environment which requires punctual arrival to work, ongoing communication with peers, patients/families, and clinical areas. High level of excellent customer service as well as team work and responsibility to department morale. Candidate must be comfortable with discussing payment options with our patients.
Position reports to Patient Access Services, but has an indirect report to the clinical areas as well. Our scheduling department is a very busy, high demanding area. The manager is responsible for 10 outpatient departments throughout the campus, so although this position may be primarily located at the hospital, there will be opportunities to cross train in any area so that we can staff accordingly.
This department currently functions with 11 outpatient Radiology schedulers and 5 ancillary employees supporting our other outpatient departments. On average this department handles 12,500 calls per month and schedules an average of 3,900 exams. We have many long term employees in our scheduling office and we often count on each other’s experience and expertise.

This position is located in La Mesa, San Diego County.
Hours: 8:45 am - 5:15 pm, no weekends
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- Two years healthcare employment experience with patient insurance verification/authorization, scheduling and registration in a hospital, clinic or medical office
- Strong communication skills and knowledge of a call center environment
- Ability to follow through on all assignments and insurance verification/authorization
- Heavy emphasis on quality customer service skills
- 40+ WPM, Centricity/ CERNER/On-base, Microsoft skills including Outlook
- Ability to work and participate in teamwork settings
- Effective and positive teamwork skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Medical terminology
- Strong experience with insurance verification, including authorizations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
