Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician - CPT I or CPT II
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association
- Excellent direct customer service, communication and critical thinking skills
- Computer skills, data entry proficiency
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year recent Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) experience in an acute care hospital or outpatient laboratory
- Specimen handling and transporting experience
The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) will perform phlebotomy and specimen processing in a safe and quality manner; data entry; support the Sharp Experience to provide excellent customer service. The CPT will partner with physician and nursing staff in providing optimum patient care. They will perform real-time inventory and demonstrate the ability to evaluate supply inventory to prevent shortages, overstocking and expired supplies. The CPT will work in a team environment and also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Sharp Grossmont Laboratory is a large state-of-the-art clinical laboratory that supports a 536-bed hospital with Oncology, Women’s Services, Behavioral Health and the busiest emergency department in San Diego. Lab disciplines include Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Pathology and Blood Bank.
