Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant – NA collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in the delivery of quality patient/resident care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Delivers care with consideration to age specific needs/care. Contributes to overall unit functions.  Monitor patient’s level of observation, reports any safety issues to the licensed nurse, may be required to facilitate community meetings and assist with grooming groups.  
The Medical Psychiatric Program (MPP) is a 12 bed open unit and part of 46 beds Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.  This unit is designed for adults who have both medical and psychological diagnoses requiring 24-hour skilled nursing inpatient assistance. The unique strength of this program comes from combining physical and psychological care in one setting and best serve the needs of persons with a primary psychiatric diagnosis, who also have additional medical complications.

Location
This position is located in La Mesa, San Diego County
 
Hours: Per Diem 8 hour variable shifts with weekends as needed
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
     
  • Ability to perform all baseline resident/patient care skills under guidance of Licensed Nurse 
  • Knowledge of basic patient/resident care skills
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers 
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, computer skills


Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program
  • One year of Nursing Assistant experience in an acute care setting
  • One year of Nursing Assistant experience in acute psychiatric setting
  • High School diploma or equivalent
