The Nursing Assistant - NA performs patient care activities, treatments, and services. Adheres to universal precautions. Considers the age, cultural, psychosocial and physical needs of patients when providing care. Prepares patient room/gurneys/chair prior to admission/visit. Assists with positioning, ambulation, transporting, transferring and/or discharging of patients. Answers patient call lights and/or responds to patient requests for assistance per department standard. Provides explanation to patient/family prior to administering care and answers questions.
Grossmont Rehabilitation Centers Physical Rehab unit is a 30-bed mixed unit providing comprehension care for acute rehabilitation patients recovering from traumatic injury or major illness as well as various types of medical and surgical patients. Due to the diversity of our patient population, our nurses are exposed to a unique amount of medical and surgical experience. Our staff is friendly and also diverse in age and culture. We use a primary nurse model of care, have nursing assistant support, work with an interdisciplinary team, and have self-scheduling. Grossmont Rehabilitation Center is certified by the California Association of Rehabilitations Facilities and also has a certification for our Stroke Program from the Joint Commission. We are committed to supporting our patients in their recovery, whether it is a 24 hour visit or 3 week hospitalization.

This position is located in La Mesa, San Diego County
FT 1.0, night shift: 2300-0730, work every other weekend
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant training course
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
- One year recent Nursing Assistant experience in Geriatric setting and/or one year recent Nursing Assistant experience in an Acute Care hospital
- Knowledge of basic patient/resident care skills
- Effective interpersonal and customer skills
- Ability to perform all baseline resident/patient care skills under guidance of Licensed Nurse
- Fluent knowledge (written and spoken) of English
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient Computer skills
