Job Details

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the coordination of patient care delivery, daily operations and managing a staff of 90 employees including hiring, evaluating, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and performance appraisals. This position is responsible for maintaining quality patient care, high level of patient satisfaction and engagement, meeting all regulatory requirements, and improving nursing practice and clinical outcomes through the use of clinical expertise. Responsible for maintaining standards of practice, including adherence to policy, procedures, and all regulatory requirements. Participates in budget development and maintaining budget neutral operations. Builds relationships and rounds consistently with management, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to facilitate program goals and outcomes. Demonstrates strong team building skills and effectively institutes change supporting unit, level of care, and organizational goals. Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, Sharp employees, physicians, patients and visitors.
3 East is a 37-bed Progressive Care unit which specializes in the care of GI/GU patient populations. Our staff is dedicated to excellence in quality patient care, consistent with outcome driven goals, and outstanding patient satisfaction through teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, positive nurse/physician relations, and connections with our patients and their families. Our unit has Lead Clinical Nurses, a Unit Based Educator, and Advanced Clinicians all dedicated to a learning environment through mentorship and team collaboration.  Our patient population is diverse in age, culture, and socio-economic status. 
Sharp Grossmont Hospital is the largest not-for-profit, full-service acute care hospital in the region with 536 beds. The hospital has outstanding programs in heart care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, robotic surgery, mental health, stroke care and women’s health. Full-Time; 8-hour day shift; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Current unencumbered CA Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Three years recent clinical experience in relevant area (med/surg, telemetry acute care nursing)
  • Two years recent related management or leadership experience
  • Expert knowledge of professional nursing practice, including current trends and issues
  • Knowledge of title 22 and Joint Commission standards and guidelines
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organization, management and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with entity and system projects, work teams and units
  • Provide high quality customer service to all customers served
  • Evidence of effective supervision and teaching
  • Provides documented attendance in continuing education programs in area of clinical specialty and practice
  • Ability to exhibit critical thinking, time management, and stress well in a high profile environment
  • Must be flexible; demonstrate a dynamic, positive attitude and leadership style to effectively lead change
  • Form relationships and partnerships with staff, physicians, patients, and leadership skills
  • Provide high quality, empathetic care to every patient, every time

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Masters of Science Degree in Nursing
  • National certification in Nursing Administration or applicable specialty
  • Five years as a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care and/or Telemetry environment.
