Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current unencumbered California RN license
- 3 years of clinical experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by the ability to work with individuals and/or teams, and across disciplines
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills as demonstrated in oral and written forms
- Ability to work in a collaborative partnership model with other members of the interdisciplinary team, both internal and external
- Organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Inpatient Behavioral Health/Psych RN experience
- One year of experience in case management strongly preferred
- Computer, data management and analysis skills
- BSN or equivalent degree
- Certified Case Manager (CCM)
The Utilization Resource Case Manager functions as the primary liaison between the sponsoring agent and all other related parties to ensure appropriate level of care through comprehensive concurrent review for medical necessity of inpatient stays and the utilization of ancillary services.
This Utilization Resource Case Manager position is part of the Administration – Psych department. The Behavioral Health Unit at Sharp Grossmont Hospital comprised of the following three departments; The Older Adult Program (OAP), the Medical Psychiatric Program (MPP) and the Intensive Treatment Program (ITP). The Older Adult Program (OAP) provides inpatient, short-term comprehensive care for patients 55 years of age and older who are experiencing acute psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairment and age-related physiological difficulties. The Medical Psychiatric Program (MPP) is a 12 bed open unit that is part of the 46 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. The MPP unit is designed for adults who have both medical and psychological diagnoses requiring 24 hour skilled nursing inpatient assistance. The Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) is a 14 bed locked 24-hour care unit designed for adults who are gravely disabled or so impaired in their psychological functioning as to constitute a danger to themselves or others.
The position is located in a 500+bed acute care facility that includes a 46 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. This position is part of a psychiatric liaison team that reports to the Director of Behavioral Health. The position is responsible for the psychiatric evaluation and assessment of patients in the Emergency Department. Dispositions to the appropriate level of care are completed in consultation with a psychiatrist on call as well as the Emergency Department physician.
