Responsibilities

Summary

The Account Executive, Medicare Sales is a key position generating new Medicare membership for Sharp Health Plan. This position is responsible for selling Medicare products directly to customers over the phone and in-person. This position is responsible for meeting sales goals, quotas, and management objectives based upon corporate sales and marketing goals.
The majority of time is spent generating outbound and receiving inbound sales calls from potential members to sell Sharp Health Plan’s Medicare plan options. This includes following-up with referrals and warm leads generated through Sharp Health Plan's marketing efforts and assisting customers with completing the enrollment process.
The secondary focus is generating new leads and new sales through the development of relationships with key stakeholders, including community organizations, churches, hospitals, and providers, representing Sharp Health Plan’s Medicare product portfolio. This position builds a book of business through in-home presentations, group presentations, educational-based events and senior community event representation.
This position reports to the Manager of Medicare Business Development and assists with short- and long-term projects that require organization, research, analysis, planning, development, communication, and/or coordination. The Account Executive, Medicare Sales serves as an advisor to executive management team on projects, including, but not limited to, product development, marketing, customer satisfaction, process improvement, business development, community relations, and quality initiatives.

Location
This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego County.

Hours
Varied Shifts,  evenings and weekends as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation daily
  • Current Health and Life Insurance License through the California Department of Insurance
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required (both verbal and written)
  • Strong presentation skills that support effective communication of complex material
  • Experience working with the senior population
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and problem solving skills
  • High level of self-motivation; ability to accomplish goals independently
  • Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills, systems aptitude, etc.)
 
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Bilingual candidates strongly preferred (English/Spanish)
  • Knowledge of Medicare Parts A & B, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans and Part D plans, and CMS rules and regulations
  • Comfortable with “soft sell” techniques
  • Call center and/or customer service experience
  • Strong interest in the Healthcare industry with a passion for helping others
  • Minimum two years’ in sales or account management in the health plan/insurance industry
