This is a Per Diem Position - Hours are given on an as needed by the department basis
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Expressive Arts Therapy field or a Bachelor's degree in Mental Health Field with additional training in one of the expressive arts therapies (Art, Music, Drama or Movement)
- Current Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure
- Two years expressive arts therapy experience; preferably working in health care field
The Expressive Art Therapist will work in a diverse medical setting ranging from adult in-patient care, rehab, to leading are expression therapy groups in the behavioral health setting. Responsibilities are to prepare, implement and evaluate therapeutic art activities with individuals, families and groups to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological, social and spiritual health. The therapist is part of the interdisciplinary team, working with the team to coordinate a comprehensive plan of care. Assist in the development and utilization of expressive arts therapy materials to educate staff, patients/families, and other professionals regarding expressive arts therapy.
The Spiritual Care Department's mission is to promote excellence in providing quality spiritual care, spiritual counseling, spiritual support and crisis intervention to patients, families, visitors and staff at all times. It is also responsible in maintaining an accredited program of Clinical Pastoral Education through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. The services the department provides are: Spiritual counseling, Crisis intervention, Spiritual support, Ethics consultation, Clinical Pastoral Education, Community Education, Rituals and Spiritual services for employees, End of Life concerns, Bereavement services and Spiritual/sacramental rituals. The Spiritual Care Departments are located at 7 facilities throughout the Sharp HealthCare System (Sharp Mary Birch for Women and Newborns, Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Mesa Vista & Sharp McDonald's Center, Sharp Chula Vista, Sharp Grossmont and Sharp Coronado).
