Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$20.000 - $22.314 - $26.777


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Assists patients, staff and providers as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • Medical office experience required with a strong emphasis in customer service, computer skills, and phones or completion of a medical receptionist or equivalent training program.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • Other Completion of an Audiology Assistant Training Program.
  • Audiology office experience preferred with a strong emphasis in customer service, hands-on hearing device troubleshooting, and assistance with patient testing or completion of an Audiology Assistant training program.


Essential Functions

  • Clinical skills:
    Supports the work of the Audiologists.
    Completes personalized training program with supervising audiologists.
    Demonstrates competency in all training program aspects.
    Accurately documents patient care per protocol.
    Listens to patients, collects pertinent information, recognizes the urgency of the patient's problem and routes to audiologists as needed.
    May schedule patient appointments.
    In partnership with audiologist, provides specific educational material and individual teaching.
    Uses universal precautions and demonstrates knowledge of infection control policies and procedures.
    Participates in clinical projects as directed by the audiologist, supervisor, or manager.
    Partners with audiologists to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
    Maintains current knowledge of hearing device components.
    Continuously updates skills and knowledge of device troubleshooting techniques to meet needs of audiologists.
    Cleaning/checking hearing devices that are dropped off
    Cleaning/checking hearing devices for walk-in patients
    Ordering/receiving/preparation of new hearing aids, cochlear implants, and osseo integrated devices
    Completion of purchase agreement, NNC, DME, UHH forms for hearing aid device fittings
    Sending/receiving hearing devices for repair
    Weekly calibration of hearing aid verification equipment
    Requesting and scheduling IT updates/installation for hearing device programming software
    Completing prior-authorization requests
    Cleaning/sanitizing as needed
    Assist with difficult-to-test patients
  • Communication and teamwork:
    Supports the work of department PSRs.
    Provides assistance to PSRs in resolving issues related to front desk responsibilities including scheduling and telephone management.
    Assists in training of support staff when required.
    Displays a willingness to accept changes in assignment locations and work schedule to meet departmental and organizational needs.
    Promotes a positive work environment by accepting interpersonal differences and respecting others' values and opinions.
    Maintains department equipment and treatment areas in safe, clean and orderly manner.
    Attends staff meetings.
    Assists with department or program development projects.
    Demonstrates a courteous, professional behavior towards patients, providers, co-workers, and all internal and external customers.
  • Department efficiency and effectiveness:

    Organizes and completes daily requirements and responsibilities.
    Telephone Message Management - Ensures prompt and efficient return of messages according to established policy. Troubleshoots and resolves problem calls.
    Management of tasks/FMH messages
    Completes work within assigned hours.
    Able to respond to changing circumstances and prioritize patient needs.
    Responds to urgent and emergent situations in a calm and capable manner.
    Utilizes good judgment and problem solving ability.
    Maintains appropriate supply levels in conjunction with audiologists.
    Cost conscious in usage.
    Participates in and prepares for site inspections and inventories.
    Completes department inventories per guidelines.
  • Other Duties
    Successful registration with the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board as an Audiology Aide.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrate typing skills proficiency by: Using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately
  • Have the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors; Have the ability to proof work.
  • Knowledge of scheduling requirements and support of front desk responsibilities.
  • Ability to see adequately to discern important environmental events and safety hazards.
  • Ability to work, demonstrating awareness of safety practices for self, patients, staff and others.
  • Ability to maintain composure and courtesy with the public. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and patient contact skills.
