Director Home Health – Sharp HealthCare


The Director Home Health provides leadership and operational direction for Sharp Home Health and is accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating of Home Health Services at a strategic level for Sharp HealthCare. The Director position has discretion to establish plans and recommend policies, priorities and procedures provided these actions are consistent with the integration objectives, operating policies, precedents, and practices of Sharp HealthCare and are congruent with its mission, vision, values and pillars.

The Director Home Health will work collaboratively with other Sharp leaders to promote and ensure ongoing systems integration, coordination, continuity and consistency of patient care across the continuum. This position is responsible for delivering all aspects of the Sharp Experience in Sharp Home Health and ensures compliance with legislation and regulations impacting home health.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Requires a seasoned professional skilled and knowledgeable with a minimum of 3 years of home health, acute care or critical care nursing work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience is preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare related field is required.

  • Current unencumbered RN License, CA license preferred.

Sharp Home Health is San Diego's largest home health agency, licensed and certified since 1983. The agency is part of the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus, home to an array of comprehensive medical services. Sharp Home Health provides cutting-edge clinical services including transplant care, wound experts, diabetes nurse educator, infusion specialists, and non-invasive pain management modalities.

With a focus on maximizing recovery, independence and long-term wellness, Sharp Home Health provides diabetes care instruction, specialty nursing, rehabilitation and senior behavioral health services to individuals throughout San Diego County.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the strategic planning process for the Home Health agency and services provided by the agency.

  • Determines direction, goals, and objectives for Home Health and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans.  Directs the development of short and long range plans and budgets for Sharp Home Health.

  • Develops and recommends overall organizational policies and objectives within both clinical and business services and ensures their implementation.

  • Ensures the integration and system coordination of all aspects of Sharp Home Health.

  • Manages contract services, and/or outside relationships relating to daily operations.  Communicates and ensures that entity processes are developed and implemented to ensure that entity stakeholders/constituents needs are met.

  • 6Ensures organizational compliance with legislation and regulations as they impact assigned areas.  Responsible for ensuring ongoing problem identification and problem-solving for the assigned areas and diffuses any crisis issue through proactive and strategic decision making processes.

  • Provides overall operations management inclusive of responsibilities in cost management, quality of services delivered, employee and resource management and total care delivery.

  • Logistical management of all operational components to deliver care/service.

  • Manages diverse group of multi-level and/or multi-site employees for the entity (region).

  • Accountable for financial outcomes and target goals related to system efficiency.

  • Accountable for demonstrating flexibility and exercising confidentiality of issues affecting business issues of the respective entity.

  • Exceptional oral and written skills. 

  • Flexibility to deal with ambiguity and change. 

  • The ability to exercise sound judgment in business decisions and to critically analyze and problem-solve complex and global issues, as well as manage solutions at a detailed level. 


Customers Served: 

Executive leadership, medical directors, physicians, directors, managers, peers, professional and clinical staff, patients, and public/community constituents. 


Compensation and Benefits:

The position provides a very competitive compensation, including opportunity to participate in a management bonus incentive program along with a generous benefit package.


Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbent spends up to 7 hours sitting

  • Up to 6 hours repetitive use of hand(s), keyboarding, mousing and/or writing up to 2 ½ hours grasping/handling;

  • Up to 90 minutes of neck flexion/extension

  • Up to 30 minutes walking, standing

  • Up to 5 minutes twisting (waist); bending (waist) squatting; pinching/fingering; pushing & pulling, reaching (above shoulder level).
