Hours:  Per Diem position; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Day shift; 8 hours
 
 
Required skills and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current RHIA Certification
  • One year or more of current coding  employment experience 
  • Proficiency testing for expert knowledge for ICD-9/10  codes and their use
  • Thorough understanding of Medicare and Medi-Cal documentation compliance and coding
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to use Windows based computer applications
  • Ability to interpret medical records and reports, chart entries and related patient documentation
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent communication, project development and critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with IDX and Allscripts Home Care applications

Summary
This position is responsible for the coding of Sharp Home Care patients into the Home Care Database. Correctly assigns ICD-9CM codes for all diagnoses. A professional work style, exercising mature judgment and maintaining confidentiality in all activities.
