Director Benefits

Summary:

Director Benefits directs the design, development, implementation, and communication of system wide benefits programs and strategic initiatives in line with the organization’s business goals and objectives.Ensures that benefit plans and programs are in compliance with current regulations and competitive with relevant markets.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in benefits management in a large, complex organization.

  • Experience working in health care and in particular, an integrated health care system is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a leadership role with responsibility for coaching, motivating, and inspiring a team to deliver exceptional results, develop knowledge and skills, and seek challenges and opportunities.

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with company executives, management, and key stakeholders.


Education:

Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field required.

Master’s degree (MBA or other) strongly preferred.


Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Benefits Program Development and Delivery

  • Health and Welfare Plan Administration

  • Retirement Plan Administration

  • Compliance and Reporting

  • Information Exchange and Data Integrity

  • Communications and Education

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of employee benefits plans and programs, and plan design and pricing methodologies. 

  • Strong working knowledge of benefits plan operations, administration, regulatory requirements, and necessary compliance and reporting activities. 

  • Ability to provide leadership in the ongoing design, development, administration, and communication of benefit programs.

    Ability to lead and successfully execute complex benefits initiatives independently. 

  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to influence senior executives and all levels of management in a manner that is viewed as positive and non-directive.

 

Customers Served:

All levels of management; entity human resources directors and staff; employees, former employees, family members, and retirees; various regulatory agencies; insurance carriers; third party administrators; and service providers.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The position provides a very competitive compensation, including opportunity to participate in a management bonus incentive program along with a generous benefit package.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at desk approximately 6-8 hours per day. 

  • Ability to work at a computer 4-6 hours per day.
