Director, Rehabilitation Services - Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC)

Summary:

The Director, Rehabilitation Services provides leadership and accountability for planning, directing and coordination of Rehabilitation Services for inpatient and outpatient operations on the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC). This position has discretion to establish plans and recommend operating policies, precedents, practices for SMMC and is congruent with its mission, vision, values and pillars.Responsible for delivering all aspects of the Sharp Experience in assigned departments.


Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center provides comprehensive rehabilitation services throughout San Diego County, such as inpatient rehabilitation following catastrophic strokes, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries; outpatient rehabilitation for neurological concerns, sprains, strains and injuries; and specialty therapy services for problems related to balance, speech, lymphedema and chronic pain. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center with a special designation for the rehabilitation of patients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and general rehabilitation designations.

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum of five (5) years management experience and healthcare operations leadership required.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in rehabilitation operations preferred.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in business, management, health care administration or equivalent preferred.

Licensure/Certifications: OT/PT licensure or certifications preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Determines direction, goals and objectives for SMMC Rehab Services and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans.

  • Directs the development of short and long range plans and budgets for Sharp Rehab Services

  • Oversees overall responsibility for daily operations and performance for SMH Inpatient Rehabilitation, acute care hospital PT/OT and the Outpatient Nursing/Therapy services, SMB NICU PT/OT therapy services and programs.

  • Develops and recommends overall departmental policies and objectives within both clinical and business services and ensures their implementation.

  • Ensures organizational compliance with legislation and regulations as they impact assigned areas.

  • Accountable for financial outcomes and target goals.

  • Responsible for overall operations management inclusive of responsibilities in cost management, quality of services delivered, employee and resource management care delivery:

    • Logistical management of all operational components to deliver care/service.

    • Manage diverse group of multi-level employees for the entity.

    • Problem identification and problem-solving for the assigned areas and diffuses any crisis through proactive and strategic decision making processes.

  • Communicates and ensures that entity processes are developed and implemented to ensure that entity stakeholders/constituent’s needs are met.

  • Maintains an effective presence in the professional community and current knowledge of other rehabilitation service providers as well as state and national trends.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The position provides a very competitive compensation, including opportunity to participate in a management bonus incentive program along with a generous benefit package.
