This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego County



8:00am -5:00pm; Weekends as needed.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field, or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment 
  • Working knowledge of hospital, physician and health care operation
  • Expert use of Excel spreadsheets, MS-Access database software and general ledger Proficient in managed care financial activities, including hospitals, medical groups, and health plans
  • Ability to interpret the terms and provisions of managed care agreements
  • Works well under tight deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Experience in a managed care setting to include interactive communication with providers and members. Strong background in medical management systems (e.g., IDX), operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows), and a variety of PC-based software programs (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, and Monarch)
  • Background in development and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to meet frequent deadlines and tight schedules


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • General hospital, medical or other clinical experience.


Under the direction of the Manager, Contracts-Finance provides Sharp Health Plan with reporting and analysis that enables data driven Plan decision-making. Maintains the integrity and automation of extensive spreadsheets, links data from different sources and databases to include functionality of formulas, queries, importing and exporting of data to other programs, and monitors internal and external data needs on an ongoing basis. Understands query development and design, has experience with report writing tools. Strong analytical skills; ability to sort, organize and summarize complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interaction with senior management. Ability to apply independent decision-making skills to managed care contracts

Essential Physical Requirements may include:

Incumbent spends approximately 4-6 hours per day sitting at desk, entering data on computer terminal and talking on telephone.  Incumbent spends approximately 1-2 hours per day walking between Plan departments.  Must be able to hear and speak clearly by telephone.  Must be able to meet frequent deadlines and tight schedules.  Must be able to lift 5 – 20 pounds, primarily paper reports and filing.
