The Imaging Specialist II in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for overseeing all aspects of radiation/fluoro safety and equipment in the cath lab and assisting the cardiologist with all aspects of imaging during procedures.  This role requires becoming proficient as a scrub tech and observing/maintaining strict sterile technique, as well as performing in the roles of monitor and circulator.  The cath lab works as a team and the ideal candidate possesses good interpersonal communication skills representative of highly functioning teams.
The Cardiac Cath Lab at Sharp Memorial Hospital has five cardiac cath suites and a 14 bed CV staging unit.  The common patient population consists of diagnostic cardiac and peripheral catheterization, percutaneous coronary and peripheral intervention, as well as electrophysiology procedures patients.  We provide pre and post op patient care and assist physicians with procedures including transesophageal echocardiography, ECHO guided endomyocardial biopsies, tilt table studies and arrhythmia cardioversion.

This position is located Sharp Memorial Hospital in the community of Serra Mesa in San Diego County


10-hour Day shifts; 7:00 am - 5:30 pm;; weekends as needed.  On-call requirement; call requires 30 minute response time

Full-time (1.0 FTE) position, 80 hours per pay period

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • Current California License in Radiologic Technology (CRT)
  • Current California Fluoroscopy permit
  • ARRT in Radiology
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Knowledge/experience with overseeing all aspects of radiation safety and equipment in the cath lab
  • General basic computer skills to include PACs, Microsoft office, Cerner
  • Good communication and Team work skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Recent experience in interventional Radiology or Cath Lab
  • One or more years’ experience as an Imaging Specialist
  • Basic EKG interpretation
