The Instructional Designer creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content for Sharp HealthCare System CME Department and Clinical Effectiveness Division. Works with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs. Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.) and provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process. Analyzes and applies trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
System CME is responsible for developing, implementing and measuring outcomes for CME/CPE activities for physicians and pharmacists under ACCME and ACPE accreditations. Staff includes one Medical Director, one Manager, and four Coordinators. Department is under the Division of Clinical Effectiveness.
Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC). These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system. These services include: Strategic Planning, Business Development, Information Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and Insurance, Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Development, Clinical Effectiveness, Finance, Nursing, Systems Supply Chain Services, Marketing and Communications, The Sharp Experience and Sharp University.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field required.
Minimum of four (4) years experience in instructional design required.
Must have in-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Must have lesson and curriculum planning skills.
Basic HTML and Flash programing knowledge.
Must be proficient in visual design skills and the following programs: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, PremierPro, RUSH), Articulate, and Dreamweaver.
Must have experience writing effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts.
Preferred Required Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field.
- Knowledge of ACCME and/or ACPE and/or ABMS Portfolio accreditation criteria.
