Responsibilities

Summary
The Lead of Therapy Services is responsible for the execution of clinical functions for Partial Hospitalization and/or Outpatient Programs. Implements processes and carries out activities ensuring the quality of patient care and the overall efficient management of the program.  Acts as a clinical leader in treatment teams, participates in the development and of program curriculum, enforcement of department policies and guidelines, training clinicians on effective documentation, managing staff scheduling and performance evaluations, and oversight of all daily program operations and clinical care to patients.

The Dual Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital treats patients with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders. The program provides psychoeducation and behavioral treatment approaches to assist the patient in discovering alternative evidenced based treatments to cope with their mental health symptoms while exploring the connection between mood, symptoms, and substance use. The clinicians are crossed trained in principles of mental health and addiction treatment. Different levels of treatment accommodate the individual needs of the dually diagnosed patient. Patients are served by an interdisciplinary team of highly dedicated professionals providing the highest quality patient care.

As the largest behavioral health care provider in San Diego with 149 beds, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a full range of programs to people of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors challenged by depression, substance abuse or serious mental illness. The hospital’s robust Clinical Research Program has conducted more than 250 clinical trials of investigational medications since its inception in 1963, providing new options and hope for people with mental illness. Sharp Mesa Vista provides inpatient care and offers outpatient programs throughout the community. 

Location
This position is located in Serra Mesa, San Diego County

Hours
Full-Time (1.0) Position. 8-hour Day shifts; 7:30am - 4:00pm; no weekends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field
  • Current California LCSW, LMFT or Licensed Psychologist
  • Three years’ experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Experience in treating patients with Substance Abuse Disorders as well as Mood Disorders

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria and experience in Motivational Interviewing
  • Able to supervise interns and unlicensed clinicians
