Responsibilities

Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic II will perform and coordinate work assignments to ensure a safe, sanitary, healthy and comfortable environment for visitors, patients, physicians and employees. Provide leadership and direction to staff to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations, quality outcomes and internal and external customer satisfaction. Work cooperatively with Managers, Directors, and Physicians to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

As the largest behavioral health care provider in San Diego with over 150 beds, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a full range of programs to people of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors challenged by depression, substance abuse or serious mental illness. The hospital’s robust Clinical Research Program has conducted more than 300 clinical trials of investigational medications since its inception in 1995, providing new options and hope for people with mental illness.

Sharp Mesa Vista provides inpatient care and offers outpatient programs throughout the community.

Location

This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego, CA.

 

Hours

Full time: 8-hour day shift; variable start and end times; includes weekends as needed and on call requirements. 

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 5 Years Progressive experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license OR Commercial Driver license (CDL) Class A OR Commercial Driver license (CDL) Class B required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade School-Mechanical/HVAC.
  • 1 Year Leadership experience.

Other Qualification Requirements

 

  • 4 years apprenticeship as a Stationary Engineer may be substituted for High School Diploma

 

  • Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with the requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.
  • HVAC Certificate is preferred.
  • OSHA Safety Certificate is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS).
  • Ability to push/pull and carry heavy loads.
  • Ability to differentiate colors.
