Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$27.986 - $34.983 - $41.979


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.


Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Or
  • Other : Trade School
  • 5 Years progressive experience in the maintenance of hospitals, hotels or large office complexes. Experience to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire controls.
  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles OR Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A - CA Department of Motor Vehicles OR Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED


Other Qualification Requirements

  • Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with the requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.


Essential Functions

  • Customer service
    Completion of requests for service as determined by work orders completed.
    Conduct or coordinate surveys of facilities for all areas of responsibility with support services manager or designee achieving positive change.
  • Daily operations
    Expertise: Demonstrate technical expertise and competency within scope of job description, acts as a resource for the designated area of responsibility. Partner with managers and supervisors to continuously learn and expand knowledge base.
    Triage/Messages: Listen to employee requests, collects pertinent information and assesses needs, recognizes the urgency of the problems, offers advice and recommendations based on approved protocols. Assist in ensuring telephone messages are returned within a timely manner.
    Other: Participate in special projects as requested by the management.
    Provide assistance to staff in resolving issues related to areas of responsibilities. Acts as a positive role model and ensures appropriate service delivery.
    Applications: Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines for department and other applications.
    Mentorship: Provide guidance to Maintenance Mechanic I on safe work practices, procedures, and assist with developing skills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership
    Participate in meetings with staff and customers to foster on-going communication / cooperation. Consistently acts as a team player. Demonstrates willingness to help co-workers, recognizes others efforts. Has excellent attendance.
    Staff Training and Development/Teamwork/Communication: Provide on-going service support and serves as a mentor for new department employees.
    Collaborate and communicate effectively with department and management to resolve department related issues and increase overall efficiency. Participate in or conducts documented formal or informal meetings per year. Use Positive communication skills, identifies issues, makes suggestions and offers solutions for resolution in cooperation with other team members.
    Leadership/Taskforce involvement: Consistently pro-active in team development and in problem-solving to meet department goals. Actively and positively strives to implement departmental goals and support changes. Act as a resource and role model for staff. Facilitates inter-departmental cooperation and teamwork.
    Other: Perform other duties as requested by Management.
    Give and receive feedback about service delivery.
  • Perform general clerical duties
    Staffing Daily Organization/Effectiveness: Work with management to ensure coverage and/or provide adequate alternatives. Ensures attendance and overtime compliance. Ensure prompt and efficient return of messages in the department. Monitors assigned daily tasks to ensure quality and service standards.
    Maintain current certifications (if applicable) to ensure current validity.
    Policy and Procedure: Meet all policy and procedure compliance within the department. Adhere to procedural changes, such as new protocols.
    Complete assigned work orders and enter necessary information for future reference.
    Other: Perform all other duties as required by Manager
  • Financial management
    Demonstrate flexibility in job work practices to support cost containment.
    Adjust priorities to maximize efficiency and to address unscheduled situations.
    Maintain expense per unit of service (controllable expenses only to include supplies, purchased services, employee related expenses and other miscellaneous expenses.)
    Takes initiative in using time effectively.
  • Quality
    Demonstrate commitment to customers through service excellence.
    Effectively communicate, cooperate and collaborate to achieve the best positive results. Model appropriate interaction with patients.
    Customer Service Data as determined by overall patient satisfaction scores relating to facilities and environment.
    Communicate site issues to support services managers and management. Has an open line of communication.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have ability to effectively coordinate, guide and implement various building maintenance tasks and vendors at multiple clinic sites simultaneously.
  • Responsible for instilling safe work habits in employees and for the maintenance of the work environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance procedures and use of a wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS).
  • Documents maintenance services by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintains vehicles by filling gasoline and oil levels; scheduling regular maintenance.
