Responsibilities

This position will develop and implement comprehensive multi-million dollar major gift philanthropy program/strategies for Sharp Metropolitan Medical Center and other initiatives as assigned. Provide direction, build relationships, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals, foundations and corporations for gifts of $10,000 or more, with an emphasis on gifts at the six and seven figure level.Lead efforts for a strong volunteer and physician participation; work closely with Development Officers charged with annual giving and events.

Additional Responsibilities:

Fundraising-Major Gifts: Identify, research and solicit potential sources of gift support including individuals, corporations, community organizations and foundations to ensure that fund raising goals of $1 - $2 million annually are met. Meet all metrics for number of solicitations, face-to-face meetings and use of ally in the solicitation process.

Case Development/Writing: Gather information from initiative/entity leadership to develop compelling Case Statements that can be used in funding proposals. Prepare written case statements and gift proposals for each initiative and/or entity assigned. Continually update data, text and photos for web page and all collateral materials.

Volunteers: Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining a high level group of volunteers to serve on Philanthropy Council(s). Provide direction for all council meetings and events to ensure that all are well organized, timely and meet objectives. Recruit and train volunteers in fund raising process. Utilize entity CEO and MD leadership on councils in effective manner.

Team Player: Actively participate in the Sharp HealthCare Foundation Major Gift team (serve on internal committees and projects) . Adhere to all business practices for tracking actions in RE donor base. Serve as a public speaker on behalf of Sharp HealthCare and assigned initiatives. Represent the Foundation at all appropriate campus activities, meetings, and events. Become active in the community through membership and/or participation in suitable community organizations.

Required Skills and Qualifications       

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of major gift capital campaign experience.
