Responsibilities

Summary
The Marriage and Family Therapist under direction of the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Supervisor is responsible for assessing and evaluating the psychosocial needs of the patient and family to determine treatment goals and interventions. Facilitates group, as well as individual and family, therapy for adolescents struggling with emotional, behavioral, and substance issues. Conducts thorough psychosocial assessments to identify appropriate treatment goals, and assists in the coordination of treatment and aftercare planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Must have a strong ability to develop positive working relationships with physicians, treatment team and other departments, to manage significant electronic documentation, and be responsive to the needs of the patients served.
Sharp Mesa Vista's Child and Adolescent treatment programs offer hope and professional expertise, and are carefully designed to offer treatment to young people and their families in crisis. We treat children and teens with depression, anxiety, substance use, bipolar disorder, self-harm and aggressive behaviors.
As the largest behavioral health care provider in San Diego with 149 beds, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a full range of programs to people of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors challenged by depression, substance abuse or serious mental illness. The hospital’s robust Clinical Research Program has conducted more than 250 clinical trials of investigational medications since its inception in 1963, providing new options and hope for people with mental illness.
Sharp Mesa Vista provides inpatient care and offers outpatient programs throughout the community.
Location
This position is located at the East County Satellite Facility (El Cajon), San Diego County
 
Hours
Program Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 11:00 am - 7:30 pm
This is a Per Diem Position
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or Psychology from an accredited graduate program
  • Current State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT )
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association
  • One year of experience in a behavioral health setting

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in a behavioral health
  • Two years' recent experience in an adolescent behavioral health setting
  • Acute/psychiatric hospital experience, discharge planning/case management
