This Nurse Practitioner (NP) position will focus on providing medication management and supportive psychotherapy to adolescent patients in our partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient programs on our main campus and in our satellites. In collaboration with board-certified psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team, the NP will offer treatment to young people and their families in crisis. We treat children and teens with depression, anxiety, substance use, bipolar disorder, self-harm and aggressive behaviors. The entire staff is deeply committed to promoting the fullest recovery for every person. The Nurse Practitioner provides/enhances patient care based on advanced nursing practice principles in area of specialty.
Successful candidates must have a strong ability to develop positive working relationships with physicians, the treatment team, and other departments, to manage significant electronic documentation, and be responsive to the needs of the patients served.
This NP position is part of the Cognitive Intensive/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Outpatient department (COG/DBT OP). As the largest behavioral health care provider in San Diego with 149 beds, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a full range of programs to people of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors challenged by depression, substance abuse or serious mental illness. The hospital’s robust Clinical Research Program has conducted more than 300 clinical trials of investigational medications since its inception in 1995, providing new options and hope for people with mental illness.
Sharp Mesa Vista provides inpatient care and offers outpatient programs throughout the community.
This position is located in Serra Mesa, San Diego County, CA
8-hour variable shift, hours primarily 10:00 am - 6:30 pm Monday-Friday, but may vary depending on the needs of the department
Full-time 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per pay period)
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered California RN license
- Current, unencumbered California Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certificate
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
- DEA Controlled Substance Registration number
- DEA waiver for Suboxone prescribing required ((Buprenorphine Waived Practitioner)
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related Health Care degree or equivalent experience
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 1 year of Nurse Practitioner (NP) experience in Behavioral Health
