The Occupational Medicine Medical Assistant will assist patients, staff, and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations to provide high quality care. Represents Occupational Medicine with the daily operations of managing the telephone, listens to patients, collect pertinent information, and recognizes the urgency of the patient’s problem and routes to physicians as necessary. Provides excellent customer service to all patients maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor. Demonstrates excellent clinical and technical expertise within the scope of practice. May act as a clinical resource for the assigned area and provide patient education. Partners with physicians to learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
The Sharp Rees-Stealy Department of Occupational Medicine consists of 15 providers on our staff to help meet the needs of our patients and is located at 6 of our Sharp Rees-Stealy medical clinics in San Diego (Chula Vista, Downtown, Genesee, La Mesa, Sorrento Mesa, and Rancho Bernardo).

This position will float to various Sharp Rees-Stealy medical offices in San Diego County
Per Diem, Days (Temporary position expected end date January 2021)
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Navy Hospital Corps School
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
- One year Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory care clinic
- Able to work in a fast pace environment, computer and customer service skills
- Must be flexible and well organized
- Good team player skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Occupational Medicine or Urgent Care experience
- Current California Medical Assistant certification (CMA)
- CAOHC and Spirometry certified preferred but will train
- Knowledge of workers' compensation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- May consider Medical Assistant New Grads
