8 hour shifts; full-time position to work 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; weekends as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved professional school or graduate of an accredited college or university with a certificate in Occupational Therapy
- Current California State Occupational Therapist Licensure
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
- Two or more years of recent experience in all aspects of Occupational Therapy
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- One year experience and training in the evaluation and management of lymphedema
- Certification in Lymphedema
As a Lymphedema Therapist, you will work closely with the Cancer Center at the Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion to evaluate newly diagnosed patients, prior to any intervention, and then follow them during their post treatment. You will treat patients undergoing therapy – teaching them the skills necessary to manage their conditions independently and help them get back to the activities they enjoy with the greatest degree of health possible. As a highly respected Lymphedema Therapist you will join a well-established program and with a patient population that includes upper extremity, lower extremity, head and neck lymphedema. In addition, participate in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department, and participates in CQI activities.
The lymphedema program provides a comprehensive approach to caring for patients with both primary and secondary lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency and post-operative trauma or swelling caused by injury, infection, insect bites and radiation. Our program also treats individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia, arthritis and reflex sympathetic dystrophy
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center with a special designation for the rehabilitation of patients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and general rehabilitation designations.
