This position is located in Rancho Bernardo but will float to Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa and Sorrento Mesa, San Diego County
Per Diem, Varied Shift, 8 hours
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years current medical front office experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of insurance co-payment collection and cashiering skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Strong customer service and oral communication skills
- Computer knowledge; type 45 wpm
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
The Patient Service Representative works in conjunction with physicians and clinical staff to take care of patients’ administrative needs. Primary responsibilities include checking in patients for appointments, collecting patient co-pays, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, and checking insurance eligibility. This position utilizes our electronic record system to verify and update patient demographic information as well as posting and balancing of payments collected. PSRs are friendly and provide excellent customer service, assuring that patients are informed and well cared for while waiting for their appointment.
The Sharp Rees Stealy Scheduling Services Department offers front office administrative support to various departments at Sharp Rees Stealy Medical Group. Patient Service Representatives or other staff members are trained to fill positions when regular staff are on vacation or are ill. Float team members enjoy a variety of short or long term assignments at different locations.
