Responsibilities

Summary
The Pharmacist will work in the sterile compounding clean room; individual will supervise the preparation and distribution of IV admixtures and supplies in accordance to USP 797 sterile compounding regulations.  Assures compliance with quality assurance programs.  Oversees inventory control of supplies and pharmaceuticals for daily production.  This position is for the Sharp Central Pharmacy, which compounds IV products for all of the Sharp hospitals.

Sharp Grossmont Hospital is the largest not-for-profit, full-service acute care hospital in the region with 536 beds. The hospital has outstanding programs in heart care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, robotic surgery, mental health, stroke care and women’s health. In addition, the hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Center is one of the most technologically advanced emergency and intensive care facilities in the nation.

Sharp Grossmont Hospital is nationally recognized as a MAGNET®-designated hospital for patient care and nursing practices. This designation is the “gold standard” for patient care and nursing excellence and is the highest honor awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Sharp Centralized Pharmacy Service, which consists of the Sharp Centralized Hospital Pharmacy, is a licensed entity providing sterile compounds and solutions used in hospitals in the Sharp HealthCare system.  They employ a team of pharmacists, technicians and ancillary personnel who, through lean processes and expertise in sterile compounding, provide quality pharmaceutical products to Sharp HealthCare entities.

Currently Sharp HealthCare Central pharmacy division consists of a pharmacy department (Home Infusion, Hospice, Specialty Pharmacy, and Centralized Repackaging) and Nursing department with approximately 50 employees in both divisions. We are a provider of medications, supplies, medical equipment and nursing visits to patients in their home. 

Location 
This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego County

Hours
FULL-TIME
8 hours day variable shift, every other weekends.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current unencumbered CA Pharmacist license 
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a hospital pharmacy environment is preferred
  • Current two (2) years of Pharmacist experience either in hospital pharmacy with an emphasis in parenteral therapies or home infusion therapy preferred
  • Excellent aseptic technique for IV admixture compounding
 
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency program
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
