The Physical Therapist II – NICU will evaluate and treat patients within the Neonatal Intensive Care environment, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in a manner that is cost-effective and appropriate to the patient's diagnosis, age and culture. He or she will complete all documentation to meet regulatory and financial requirements.  A good candidate will demonstrate sound clinical skill and the willingness to learn via external and internal continuing education opportunities.  Excellent communication skills are necessary when working with a variety of referring providers, a diverse patient population, and a large clinical staff. The physical therapist will provide cooperative and courteous service to internal and external customers as part of Sharp HealthCare's commitment to customer satisfaction.

Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center provides comprehensive rehabilitation services throughout San Diego County, such as inpatient rehabilitation following catastrophic strokes, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries; outpatient rehabilitation for neurological concerns, sprains, strains and injuries; and specialty therapy services for problems related to balance, speech, lymphedema and chronic pain.  Our rehabilitation team has witnessed first-hand the triumphs that people achieve in the face of adversity.  Their courage reinforces the passion we feel for the work we do, and drives us to provide the best outcomes for our patients.

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center with a special designation for the rehabilitation of patients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and general rehabilitation designations.

This position is located at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital in the NICU Department in the community Serra Mesa, San Diego County

8 hour shifts;
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current California Physical Therapist licensure
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Three or more years of experience in pediatric and neonatal aspects of Physical Therapy
  • CCS Paneling certificate is required within six months of hire
  • Must complete Sharp neonatal Training/Competency program
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in Physical Therapy
  • Must have a desire to promote the profession of physical therapy and an eagerness to learn through continuing education
