8-hour shifts: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Per SRN Per Diem Agreement, employees will be expected to work:1 major holiday;1 shift during the week or 2 shifts on the weekend in a 4 week period
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Recreation Therapy Program with a Bachelors of Arts/Science degree
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare providers
- One year or more years of recent experience or clinical externship
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Current California Parks and Recreation Society/National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification
The Recreation Specialist provides initial assessments, treatment planning and individual and group sessions to patient throughout Sharp HealthCare. Populations served include children adolescents, adults and seniors. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, provide education, therapeutic support and opportunities for fitness, relaxation, changes in life styles and creativity utilizing a variety of media and facilities. Responsible for assisting patients/clients in achieving their maximum level of functioning utilizing the assessment process to plan individual and group goal oriented treatment programs. Utilizes a variety of treatment modalities and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment; documents assessments and treatment interventions.
The SRN department offers opportunities to experience a wide range of patient care at various sites within Sharp HealthCare. Sharp promotes quality patient-family centered care in a team environment with excellent customer service. This position requires an enthusiastic, positive individual willing to be a part of a dynamic float pool servicing all of Sharp HealthCare.
Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC). These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system. These services include: Strategic Planning, Business Development, Information Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and Insurance, Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Development, Clinical Effectiveness, Finance, Nursing, Systems Supply Chain Services, Marketing and Communications, The Sharp Experience and Sharp University.
