The Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for supporting the mission-critical EPIC Beaker and Data Innovations Instrument Manager systems in an integrated environment for acute care and ambulatory Sharp HealthCare facilities.  The individual will function within a high-performing team to meet customer, regulatory and IS infrastructure requirements for new application implementations and upgrades.  Analyzes system problems, use creativity to provide viable solutions, execute detailed test plans, create thorough documentation and conduct peer reviews of proposed solutions. 

The Laboratory and Ancillary Systems Support Team provides customer on-call support 24/7, testing and implementation of new releases, troubleshooting hardware and software; provide education/training to users, maintenance of the applications.  This IT team consists of 12 staff analysts and one Manager supporting the following applications: EPIC Beaker, Data Innovations, Nutritional Services, Diabetes monitoring, Olympus America Lumenera, Nuance eScription One, Viasys VMAX, and Philips Alice Sleepware.  A diverse customer base of clinical and support staff, management and physicians.  Join one of the most dynamic, creative and innovative teams within Sharp HealthCare!    

Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC).  These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system.  These services include: Strategic Planning, Business Development, Information Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and Insurance, Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Development, Clinical Effectiveness, Finance, Nursing, Systems Supply Chain Services, Marketing and Communications, The Sharp Experience and Sharp University.



This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego County



 8hours, day shift, on-call rotation, evenings and weekends as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or relevant experience in excess of five (5) years or appropriate certifications may be considered
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ systems analysis experience administering, testing, maintaining medical information systems and detailed knowledge of laboratory clinician workflow analysis
  • Knowledge and experience supporting EPIC – Beaker Clinical Laboratory system and Data Innovations Instrument Manager (or comparable middleware) to include the build, testing and implementation of current and new connections and designing and implementing HL7 interfaces between EPIC and Data Innovations.
  • Working knowledge of operations and workflow in the Acute and Ambulatory Laboratory supported areas
  • Experience in managing project teams to meet customer objectives within agreed upon timeframes 
  • Skills in utilizing MS Office Suite, MS Project, database management, scripting, flowcharting and project management tools
  • Proven ability to apply IS principles, theories and practices to systematically interpret functional requirements into application design

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Sharp management, staff, physicians and vendors
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical customers
  • Experience with Cerner PathNet systems support preferred
  • EPIC Beaker certification strongly preferred 
  • Technical knowledge of lab analyzers and associated software
  • Proven knowledge of IS principles which includes requirements definition, analysis, design, systems integration, development and execution of test plans
