The Speech-Language Pathologist I evaluates, plans, directs and administers speech therapy under the prescription of a licensed physician. Assists patients in reaching their maximum potential by targeting goals essential for functional life skills. Will participate in continuing education to further professional development. Will be available for formal and informal consultation from senior staff therapists. Provide Speech-Language Therapy services to pediatric through geriatric populations.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with an outstanding team of eight Speech Pathologists in San Diego providing Speech/Language services to patients of all ages at five locations throughout the county. We work closely with our Pediatricians, Neurologists, Otolaryngologists, Radiologists, Audiologists, Physical and Occupational Therapists. The Speech Pathology Department provides comprehensive speech-language and cognitive-linguistic services on an out-patient basis. Services are available for neonates through geriatric populations. Evaluations and treatment include the areas of stroke, brain injury, progressive neurological disease, swallowing disorders, oral-motor dysfunction, voice, fluency, developmental Speech-Language disorders and adult Cochlear Implant patients.

This position is located at the Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Center - Mira Mesa, San Diego County.
8 hour shifts; Per Diem position to work 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or 9:00 am - 6:00 pm; no weekends; may be required to float to other clinics at La Mesa West, Rancho Bernardo, Sorrento Mesa, Otay Ranch, Scripps Ranch
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current California State Speech Therapy License
- Completion of Clinical Fellowship - RPE
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s) from ASHA
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association
- Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Effective customer service driven communication skills
- One or more years of Speech Pathology experience
- Knowledge of speech therapy evaluation and treatment methodologies in an outpatient rehabilitation setting with adult and pediatric experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Bilingual (American Sign Language)
