Responsibilities

Summary
The transcriptionist will type diagnostic reports utilizing the expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission and goal of Sharp HealthCare.
The Sharp Pathology Core Lab facility is the testing site for more esoteric clinical and anatomic pathology testing. The Core Laboratory performs primarily esoteric Immunology, Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostic testing for the entire Sharp HealthCare system and is operational 24 hours per day/ 7 days per week

Location
This positon is located in Serra Mesa, San Diego County.
 
Hours
Per diem; 8 hour variable shift, weekends as needed
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to accurately transcribe diagnostic reports including, but not limited to, pathology reports (autopsy, bone marrows, addendums, cytology).
  • Understands ICD-10 codes, and can edit or look up when needed.
  • Capable of distributing all reports in a timely manner in accordance with department procedures.
  • Maintains a minimum daily production time average of dictations.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Cerner Pathnet and Perfect Keyboard
  • Medical transcription training
  • Previous experience in pathology transcription.
