Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$67.070 - $86.540 - $96.930

What You Will Do
Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist or Manager, the Lead Radiation Therapist is responsible for department operations including patient work flow, patient safety, treatment delivery, scheduling, competencies, yearly staff evaluations, quality, policies, and fiscal responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 Years Experience in a Radiation Therapy department
  • Experience and knowledge of radiation therapy
  • Must have experience keeping neat, accurate records, following physician's orders and interacting with patients.
  • Certified Radiation Therapy (T)(ARRT) - ARRT -REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED

    Prioritize daily divisional functions, assign tasks and oversee the functions of subordinates to ensure quality and consistent outcomes and optimal departmental performance.
    Hires, coaches, counsels, trains and conducts timely annual performance appraisals.
    Manages timecards and other operational requirements for direct reports.
    Provides an environment that challenges and creates opportunities for recognition of an individual's worth and ability to meet and exceed standards.
    Leads and/or participates on task forces to support the needs of the department.
    Ensure department strives toward systemization through procedure review and implementation.
    Exhibits team building, collaboration, and models the Sharp Mission, Values and Philosophy.
  • Meeting participation
    Participates in a pro-active manner, in both identifying concerns and offering solutions.
    Participates in the following meetings: Body Mechanics, Disaster Procedures, Fire, Safety, Hazardous Materials, and Infection Control.
  • Patient care
    Interprets and performs prescribed treatment plan.
    Maintains pre-treatment and treatment records: for simple dose-calculations as required.
    Operates simulator/mold and treatment equipment.
    Assist in preparation of weekly chart rounds.
    Maintains daily treatment schedules.
    Fabricates immobilization/positioning and treatment devises, i.e., molds/blocks.
    Assist MD with treatment simulation, body contouring and use of immobilization molds.
    Assist with treatment planning, hyperthermia brachytherapy and other procedures.
    Photographs (Polaroid) patients for documentation purposes.
    Physician's orders are correctly interpreted.
    Reviewed annually for proficiency in treating adult and geriatric cancer patients.
    Patient satisfaction achieves oncology service-wide target.
    There is evidence of patient satisfaction through the verbal comments from patients themselves or through their physician and written feedback from patient evaluation cards.
  • Quality support and operations
    Initiate supplies/charges on billing documents.
    Assist in maintenance of inventory in clinical area.
    Assist in continuous quality improvement.
    Report equipment failure to supervisor.
    Secure and return supplies.
    Maintains cleanliness.
  • Resource utilization
    Demonstrates an orderly and logical approach to resource utilization.
    Consistently utilizes time management skills to improve efficiency/ effectiveness ratio.
    Recognizes external factors and positively adjusts to change.
    Readily and willing adjusts to changes in the work environment.
  • Teamwork
    Follows instructions and works with minimal supervision.
    Complies with work schedules and deadlines.
    Consistently exerts positive energy to identify, recommend, and participate in problem resolution, in an objective manner.
