At Sharp, we’re proud to offer a variety of pharmacy residency programs which include: 

• Three, ASHP accredited, PGY1 pharmacy residency programs 

• One, ASHP accredited candidate status, PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency program 

Located throughout the San Diego area, these programs offer a vast range of learning experiences by providing foundational learning in core rotations and unique experiences in elective rotations. Our pharmacy residency programs train residents to become an integral member of the health care team while offering many teaching and mentoring opportunities. 

Pharmacy residency programs offered at Sharp HealthCare Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, a 449-bed acute care facility, provides the largest selection of health care services in the South Bay with the most advanced technologies and state-of-the art facilities. Unique services include bloodless surgery and medicine and skilled nursing facilities. It is designated as a Planetree Patient Centered Care Hospital. Our pharmacy residency program was the first established pharmacy residency at Sharp HealthCare. Our experienced staff will welcome you and help you enhance your ability to provide effective pharmacotherapy in a wide variety of settings. Four positions are available each year. Learn more 

Sharp Grossmont Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Grossmont Hospital serves the east county area of San Diego. It is the largest not-for-profit, full-service acute care hospital in the region with 524 beds. The hospital has outstanding programs in heart care, neurological care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, robotic surgery, mental health, stroke care and women’s health. In addition, the hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Center is among the most technologically advanced in the nation. It is home to one of the busiest emergency departments in California, serving 105,000 patients annually, with 24/7 ED Pharmacist coverage. We are a Comprehensive Stroke Center designated by The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The Burr Heart and Vascular Center is the only dedicated cardiovascular center in the region and provides advanced cardiovascular procedures to many patients. Sharp Grossmont Hospital is a nationally recognized MAGNET®-designated hospital for nursing practices. Our pharmacy residency program will enable you to join a well-established and highly valued pharmacy team who consistently make a positive impact on the lives of patients in many different settings. Sharp Memorial Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Memorial Hospital is a 656-bed acute-care hospital recognized for nursing and patient care excellence and is known for outstanding programs in heart and vascular care, cancer care, orthopedic and neurological services, physical rehabilitation, robotic surgery and organ transplantation. Designed to promote comfort and healing, the hospital features all private patient rooms and state-of-the-art surgery suites. It is also designated as a Level II trauma center with the largest emergency and trauma center in San Diego. Our pharmacy residency program will help develop your skills in providing effective pharmacotherapy and help enhance your communication and leadership skills as part of a multidisciplinary team. Sharp PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency 

Our PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program is a comprehensive program based at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. The PGY2 Resident will gain hands-on clinical experience in interdisciplinary team-based care in diverse patient care settings at any of our four acute care hospitals.  We offer learning experiences that will provide invaluable opportunities for professional development in areas including but not limited to: emergency medicine, medical and surgical intensive care, trauma, advanced heart failure, infectious diseases, neonatal intensive care, and perioperative services.
