• One, ASHP accredited, PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency program
• One, ASHP pre-candidate status, PGY2 psychiatric pharmacy residency program

Located throughout the San Diego area, these programs offer a vast range of learning experiences by providing foundational learning in core rotations and unique experiences in elective rotations. Our pharmacy residency programs train residents to become an integral member of the health care team while offering many teaching and mentoring opportunities.

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, a 449-bed acute care facility, provides the largest selection of health care services in the South Bay with the most advanced technologies and state-of-the art facilities. The hospital has been awarded Magnet® designation for nursing excellence and Planetree® designation for patient-centered care. Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center received certification by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and has also been recognized by the American Heart Association for excellent stroke and cardiovascular care. Additionally, the hospital is home to the region’s most advanced programs for oncology at the Douglas & Nancy Barnhart Cancer Center, orthopedics, maternity and more. Our ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program was the first established pharmacy residency at Sharp HealthCare. Sharp Grossmont Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Grossmont Hospital serves the east county area of San Diego. It is the largest not-for-profit, full-service acute care hospital in the region with 562 beds. The hospital has been awarded Magnet® designation for nursing excellence and Planetree® designation for patient-centered care. The hospital has also been recognized for its commitment to high-quality sepsis management by the Joint Commission and antimicrobial stewardship by the California Department of Public Health. Sharp Grossmont Hospital offers a broad range of services — from advanced cancer care and orthopedic surgery to labor and delivery and emergency care — all centered on supporting our patients and their families throughout the healing process. In addition, the hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Center is among the most technologically advanced in the nation and has one of the busiest emergency departments in California, serving 118,000 patients annually, with 24/7 ED Pharmacist coverage. Sharp Grossmont Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center designated by The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The Burr Heart and Vascular Center is the only dedicated cardiovascular center in the region and provides advanced cardiovascular procedures to many patients. Sharp Grossmont Hospital has been recognized with the 2026 Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), one of the highest honors in emergency nursing. In 2025, Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience expanded access to advanced neurosurgical, neurological and spine care. Sharp HealthCare was recognized in Becker’s 100 Great Neuroscience and Spine Programs List.  Our ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program emphasizes mentorship, professional growth, and progressive autonomy to prepare residents for a wide variety of clinical pharmacy careers. Sharp Memorial Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 

Sharp Memorial Hospital is a 656-bed acute-care hospital and Level II trauma center and has been awarded Magnet® designation for nursing excellence and Planetree® designation patient centered-care. The hospital has also been recognized by the American Heart Association for excellent stroke and cardiovascular care.  Additionally, Sharp Memorial Hospital received certification by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Cardiac Center and Advanced Primary Stroke Center and received Cardiac Electrophysiology Accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.  The hospital has outstanding programs in other areas such as cancer care, orthopedic and neurological services, physical rehabilitation, robotic surgery and organ transplantation. Designed to promote comfort and healing, the hospital features all private patient rooms and state-of-the-art surgery suites. It is also designated as a Level II trauma center with the largest emergency and trauma center in San Diego. Sharp HealthCare PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency 

Our PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program is an ASHP accredited, comprehensive program based at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, a 562-bed facility. The PGY2 Resident will gain hands-on clinical experience in critical care practice through interdisciplinary team-based care in diverse patient care settings at any of our three acute care hospitals - Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center; all of which have been awarded Magnet® designation for nursing excellence and Planetree® designation for patient centered-care and recognized by the American Heart Association for excellent stroke care.  Sharp Grossmont Hospital has been recognized with the 2026 Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), one of the highest honors in emergency nursing. Sharp HealthCare PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency

Our PGY2 Psychiatric Residency Program is a comprehensive program, with ASHP pre-candidate status, based at Sharp Grossmont Hospital with additional learning experiences at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. Sharp Grossmont Hospital, a 562-bed facility, provides a range of comprehensive behavioral health services such as inpatient programs, intensive outpatient treatment programs, emergency and observation services, cognitive behavioral health therapy, substance use disorder and dual recovery treatment, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).   Sharp Mesa Vista, a 149-bed facility, is the largest privately operated psychiatric hospital and a leading provider of behavioral health care in San Diego County, known for its comprehensive approach to mental health treatment. The hospital offers inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, including detoxification and rehabilitation services, with additional outpatient services serving children, teens and adults.
