Hiring Process at Sharp

  1. It all starts with you. If you find a position that sparks your passion, we encourage you to apply.

  2. After we receive your application, we’ll determine if an interview is the next step. If you’re selected for an interview, the hiring department or a talent acquisition specialist will contact you.

  3. If you’ve reached the final stage, you’ll be asked to provide professional references, which are then processed by a service called OutMatch.

  4. The hiring manager will select the final candidate and extend a job offer. If you’ve received and accepted an offer, one of our onboarding specialists will be in touch to walk you through the next steps.

  5. After you’ve accepted your job offer, you’ll need to go through a few more steps, including:

    • Background check
    • Post-offer employment physical
      • You are required to complete a urine drug screen as part of the post-offer employment.
      • You are required to take a TB test.
    • Verify I-9 (eligibility to work in the United States)
    • Verify all licensures/certifications/degrees required for the position
    • Complete all new hire paperwork
    • Meet with an onboarding specialist to review paperwork (SRN employees will also meet with an SRN representative at this time)
    • Once we’ve received all your paperwork and clearances, your New Employee Orientation will be scheduled.
  6. Your first day of employment will be at New Employee Orientation, held every Monday and Thursday virtually. You will be provided a link once you have completed the onboarding process.

    Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Sharp Rees-Stealy employees will need to attend an additional orientation for their respective entities, as well as various training classes for their specific roles.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Sharp HealthCare follows the Drug-Free Workplace Act. After an offer is extended to a qualified candidate, the candidate is required to complete a urine drug screen. To learn more about the drug screening testing process, read our Post-Offer Drug Screen Frequently Asked Questions.

Once you have created an applicant profile and submitted an application, your application status will display in your profile. From Sharp Careers, select Applicant Login from the top right of the page and then select the My Jobpage tab.

We do our best to update the status of applications in a timely manner. However, many factors determine the length of the hiring process and there are varying timelines for status updates. We understand that it can be a challenging time while waiting for the status of your application. During this time, we encourage you to continue applying to jobs that meet your interest and qualifications.

If you have trouble accessing your application, please send us an email and include your first and last name, email address and phone number.

Within 24 hours, one of our Talent Acquisition team members will email you a temporary password and username. If you do not receive an email during this time frame, please call us at 858-499-5285.

Our recruiters review all candidate applications. Any applications that pass this first screening are then reviewed by the hiring departments — based on the job’s qualifications and on the information provided in the candidate’s application and resume.

The hiring departments determine which candidates will be considered and contact applicants directly.

At Sharp, the safety and security of our employees and patients is our top priority, so we are not able to offer tours to candidates unless they are selected for an onsite interview. Employee referral bonus

Specific positions offer referring employees a cash employee referral bonus. If eligible, the referring employee will receive the referral bonus specified once the new employee has been employed with Sharp for 90 days.

Employee referral drawing

All employees that refer a potential new employee are eligible to enter a quarterly employee referral drawing. Once the referred candidate has been employed with Sharp for 90 days, the referring employee will be eligible to win exciting prizes.

All current Sharp HealthCare employees are eligible for the Employee Referral Program except for supervisors and above, physicians and human resources employees.
