What You Will Do
Assist with completing Imaging Center procedures including transportation and monitoring patients to and from unit and imaging modality and perform clerical duties to include patient scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- 1 Year experience with patient care.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- Other Satisfactory completion of EKG training program (ROP or equivalent) in EKG and arrhythmia recognition with documented clinical hours performed in EKG modality.
Essential Functions
- Assist with Imaging Procedures
Greet and escort patients to Imaging Center rooms with appropriate dress and valuables secured in a safe place.
Assist in transferring patients prior to and following procedures.
Observe patients during procedures to maintain a safe environment, documenting and/or communicate changes in patient's condition to appropriate nursing and/or Imaging staff.
Transfer specimens with proper identification and safety precaution.
Provide tech assistance by developing radiographs and/or images and assisting with moving patients during procedures. - Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Communicate patient status with nursing and Imaging staff so condition and location is known to both areas.
Obtain Clinicomp Transport Form from patient's RN just prior to leaving the department. Transfer the Transport Form to the technologist when patient arrives in the Imaging Department.
Provide information regarding isolation and safety precautions.
Sign in and out of department to maintain smooth flow of work.
Relay Transport Form to the patient's RN upon returning from the Imaging department with any appropriate updated information regarding the patient's condition.
Communicate and document equipment malfunctions.
Actively participate in department and area specific meeting and focus groups.
Follow direction of supervision with attention to good listening skills and thorough follow up.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and attitude towards the department as well as patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers and supervisors.

* Accept constructive criticism. - Patient Transports
Provide appropriate mode of transport for patient's physical imitations and imaging procedure requirements.
Introduce self and purpose to patient upon entering patient's room utilizing the AIDET (acknowledge, introduce, describe procedure, estimate time of procedure and thank patient) tool.
Verifies two patient identifiers , physician orders in chart before notifying appropriate nursing staff of patient's departure.
Observe and maintain a safe environment for patients medical devices IV's, catheters, drainage and chest tubes, monitors and oxygen).
Provide documentation and communication in the event of compromises and/or changes.
Provide timely transportation to and from Imaging Center without delay or compromise in patient safety.
Maintain privacy, dignity, respect and comfort to patient during transportation.
Provide appropriate assistance to patient by asking for assistance when transferring patients to assure safety of self and patient. Never transfer a patient from bed to gurney without assistance. - Perform General Clerical Duties
Accurately utilize EMR platform for tracking steps and use of Downtime Log forms when necessary.
Deliver STAT/ASAP and Emergency reports to appropriate areas without delay as necessary in departments that have manual report delivery.
Assist in Film Library with correlating patient's previous jackets with correct inserts and comparison films available.
Proficient in Quick Report for faxing reports and CareCast or OCM order entry for lab and Engineering Work orders.
Perform required EMRfunctionality to support patient, physician, patient care and patient inquiries.
Demonstrates a positive, caring attitude to all customers by providing prompt, courteous and competent assistance in both personal and telephone interactions.
Uses EMR system to pre-register and register outpatients, and to order medical records as needed by outpatient staff for therapy treatments. Accurately records all patient demographic and funding information on referral form. Verifies insurance. Maintains system for collecting insurance cards and keeping insurance cards and keeping copies of cards current.
Ensures that prescription with diagnosis is available prior to first scheduled appointments.
Scheduled appointments do not extend beyond re-certification period or MD orders.
Ensures re-certifications are received prior to scheduling extended therapy patients (Medicare).
Appointments are scheduled within insurance authorization timeframe.
Initial appointment is scheduled within 48 hours of referral or manager is notified of need for additional staff; MD is notified if patient is not able to be scheduled.
Therapists are notified immediately if patients call and cancel appointment.
Schedules transportation when necessary and at the sites where applicable. - Teamwork
Maintains safe work environment.
Cooperatively troubleshoots potential and actual problems both internal and external to the department.

Assists with training, orientation and upholding policies and procedures to new employees or those new to the area.
Identifies, corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.
Accepts interpersonal differences and cooperates with other employees. Demonstrates responsiveness to physician's needs in maintaining an efficient schedule and quality service to the patient. Prioritize assignments effectively by setting work goals and objectives in consultation with others. - Time Management
Demonstrate initiative by effectively utilizing work time for the completion of the following:
* Effectively manage workload in a timely manner.
* Assist in other areas of the department as work volume and staffing fluctuations occur.
* Effectively utilize free time between assignments (10 minutes) to complete the following tasks: Stocking work area,
Cleaning work area, assisting coworkers with the completion of work, Provide relief for lunch, breaks and/or meetings.
* Identify and complete additional projects and/or educational In-services outside of daily responsibilities.
Assists coworkers with tasks.
Informs supervisor when available for additional work assignments. - Perform All Core and Specialized EKG and Stress Exams
Query ordered EKG exams in the EMR.
Navigate and obtain only necessary information with patient’s medical record to successfully complete exam.
Verify electronic results.
Navigate within the scheduling system.
Perform all necessary duties within the Cardiovascular PACS system.
EKG and stress exams performed with minimum baseline artifact.
Leads applied and placed with 100% accuracy.
Perform all noninvasive EKG, stress test and monitoring exams. Provide quality patient care and assist physician as needed.
* Verify and place correct order in the EMR and record system.
* Query or manually enter accurate patient demographics into the EKG cart..
* Uploads all verifies EKG’s to record system. - Patient and family education
Provides pre and post procedure education and reassurance to include but not limited to: What the procedure is, how long it is going to take, physician involved, and mode of delivery, positioning, instructions related to procedure, the report, patient satisfaction form, etc.
Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension.
Communicates and interacts with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality. - Document Management
Follows/maintains a system for logging outgoing therapy forms which include monthly therapy summaries to physician and outpatient therapy orders.
Enters patient charges, runs reports and maintains productivity spreadsheets or assists as-needed.
Detects potential errors/discrepancies in the raw data submitted, and on final productivity report.
Distributes mail and inter-office correspondence prior to noon, following mail rotation schedule; sends fax's and distributes incoming fax's; makes copies as needed.
Print images and make duplicates of films and/or digital images.
Make copy of images on a disc.
Send images electronically.
Scan appropriate patient documents into image archiving system with attention to the correct patient identification of the form and in the electronic file.
Assists with other miscellaneous duties, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prefer knowledge of body mechanics for safe transfer of patient and self.
