$34.010 - $42.512 - $51.015The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Provides support to the Operating Room by coordinating and accomplishing all activities, functions and responsibilities related, but not limited to, the anesthesia department under the direction and/or supervision of a registered nurse and/or a physician. Responsibilities include maintenance of Operating Room supplies, handling of medications, and patient care duties within scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- 1 Year Experience within a hospital setting
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Essential Functions
- Cleaning
Maintains a clean, orderly Anesthesia Workroom.
Cleans supply carts and anesthesia carts according to department procedure.
Maintains location index of all anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Disinfects and/or sterilizes supplies and equipment per department protocol.
Completes "turnover" cleaning/stocking between cases in a timely manner.
Inspects anesthesia machines/equipment for proper functioning. Removes defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately from service, reporting incident to appropriate persons.
Maintains appropriate performance of skills roster/competencies related to equipment maintenance. - Communication
Responds to requests in a friendly and timely manner.
Asks questions to increase understanding, clarify problem and identify what the customer/co-worker wants.
Listens to complaints objectively without interruptions.
Considers the customers/co-workers perspectives about problems and issues and responds appropriately to their needs.
Directs inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Involves all team members in the decision making process regarding issues within the Anesthesia Aide's scope of practice.
Anticipates the needs of the customer/co-worker and takes action promptly. Follows up to ensure that they are satisfied with the outcome
When dealing with multiple priorities at the same time, assures customer/co-workers that they will be attended to as soon as possible.
Proposes alternatives to resolve issues.
When delays are anticipated, offers explanations and alternatives, if possible.
Greets all persons in a courteous and cordial manner.
Introduces self by name and title when speaking to customers.
Conducts self on the job in a professional manner, extending courtesy, consideration and cooperation to patients, visitors and other employees. - Inventory
Maintains established par levels on all stocking carts, anesthesia carts and other specified areas.
Notifies appropriate person or submits orders for needed supplies.
Rotates supplies.
Maintains par levels for medical gas cylinders.
Participates and adheres to policy/procedure regarding evaluation and selection new equipment/supplies. - Preoperative and intra-operative assistance
Sets up anesthesia machines/equipment, monitoring equipment and supplies for procedures per department expectations and according to scope of practice.
Anticipates needs by obtaining/preparing correct and/or equipment.
Delivers needed or required supplies and/or equipment.
Transports patients in a safe and timely manner according department protocol.
Maintains appropriate performance of skills roster/competencies related to patient care including surgical positioning and surgical skin preparation. - Safety
Complies with all hospital and department policies and procedures regarding patient and employees safety.
Practices appropriate universal precautions, as outlined in policies and procedures.
Reports all observed hazards and unsafe practices to appropriate staff members.
Uses proper body mechanics.
Maintains a safe environment at all times.
Complies with organization/department/unit mandatory annual safety education and required testing.
Maintains documented completion of Safety module training.
Maintains documentation of TB skin testing and CPR with no documented exceptions to departmental safety policies and procedures.
Wears appropriate clothing and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform anesthesia aide duties competently.
- Ability to accurately maintain written records.
