Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$55.914 - $72.147 - $88.380


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Provides leadership oversight to the Social Services department. Implements procedures and carries out activities that ensure quality social service care delivery and overall efficient departmental management. Scope of role includes: staffing and scheduling; operational coordination; change management; quality improvement initiatives; regulatory compliance and professional development. Provides leadership utilizing established management and communication concepts. Collaborates with Manager related to management of all staff, including hiring, development and performance management.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an Accredited Graduate Program.
  • 5 Years experience in behavioral health setting.
  • 1 Year leadership experience.
  • 1 Year acute/psychiatric hospital experience, discharge planning/case management experience.
  • California BBS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - CA Board of Behavioral Sciences -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 Year experience providing supervision to ASWs.

Essential Functions
  • Operational Outcomes
    Develops staffing schedule and coordinates with Manager for vacation and sick leave coverage, as needed.
    Coordinates day-to-day staffing activities, including scheduling, caseload assignments and census flexing.
    Identifies and seeks resolution to operational flow issues.
    Facilitates staff in prioritizing and problem solving daily operational issues.
    Demonstrates resolutions of operational issues with targeted outcomes as negotiated with manager or director.
    Consults with all social workers regarding complex cases, policy issues or interdisciplinary matters on which important decisions need to be made, and escalates these through Chain of Command as indicated.
  • Leadership and Collaboration

    Provides professional role modeling and collaboration with interdisciplinary team, assisting unlicensed Social Workers and students to develop competency and acquire technical skills.
    Provides leadership as role model and/or consultant to develop/retain professional clinical staff.
    Communicates with the members of the healthcare team and court officers, conservator's office and/or patient advocates as appropriate to expedite patient progress, while upholding patient rights and facility safety.
    Arranges and facilitates patient care conferences for difficult/high-risk psychosocial cases to enhance resolution of identified issues.
    Identifies Bioethical dilemmas and initiates appropriate response.
  • Human Resource Management
    Collaborates on interviewing and hiring of staff.
    Orients/mentors staff into new roles resulting in achieved competencies within identified timelines.
    Rounds on staff at least monthly and provides feedback on performance.
    Coaches staff to ensure all regulatory, hospital, departmental and clinical requirements are met.
    Participates in disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the Manager/Director and Human Resources.
    Ensures all 90 day and annual performance reviews are completed within 30 days of due date.
    Assumes responsibility for department personnel records to be current and complete.
  • Departmental Improvement
    Designs, implements, and/or supports evidence-based processes and therapeutic programs for patients and families that improve clinical practice.
    Leads and/or facilitates evidence-based change for effective and sustainable quality and fiscal outcomes.
    Participates in quality improvement activities by evaluating delivery of services and programs.
  • Productivity and Budgetary Management
    Achieves quality and cost efficient care through cooperation, teamwork and high level of diplomacy and negotiation skills to manage treatment process among the patient/family, physician, payor and provider.
    Achieves productivity score between 90-100%.
    Contributes to meeting budgeted expense per unit of service.
    Contributes to utilization of supplies in cost-effective manner that supports delivery of care with budgeted supply expense per unit of service.
  • Clinical Competency
    Performs all appropriate clinical assessments (i.e., psychosocial, risk assessment, safety planning, discharge planning) and documentation per guidelines.
    Plans, implements and evaluates treatment interventions according to assessed patient needs.
    Completes all documentation elements as appropriate, including, but not limited to: assessments, treatment plan, consultations, recommendations, and interventions.
    Informs, educates, supports, and evaluates patient/family response to therapeutic interventions via collateral calls, conjoint therapy sessions, utilization review process, and/or referrals and revises care plan as necessary.
    Utilizes appropriate community resources on behalf of patients and families to develop an appropriate and timely discharge plan.
    Provides continuity of care referrals to patients and families for ongoing community services/support upon discharge.
    Completes thorough safety planning with patient and family including gun removal as an appropriate measure.
