Sharp Prebys Innovation and Education Center(SPIEC)
We welcome our Sharp leadership and colleagues, local government leaders, neighbors and the San Diego community to our new Sharp Prebys Innovation and Education Center (SPIEC). Made possible by the generosity of The Conrad Prebys Foundation and the contributions of thousands of donors in support of the SPIEC will help us develop the next generation of health care leaders.
Thoughtfully designed to put people and patients first by promoting research, training, workforce development, innovation, exploration, education and technology, the SPIEC is home to the following:
Brown Simulation Center
Four simulation spaces — representing a variety of care areas, up-to-date clinical equipment and leading-edge audiovisual capabilities — are designed to enhance learning in a creative and safe environment to improve clinical outcomes as well as caregiver and patient safety.
Terrence and Barbara Caster Institute for Nursing Excellence
In this new permanent space, we’ll realize our mission of advancing nursing education, innovation, practice and research through our four centers of excellence: professional growth; inquiry and innovation; education and technology; and community engagement.
Cox Technology Immersion Lab
Sharp researchers, clinicians, technologists and industry partners can gather to explore a variety of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, software development, machine learning, advanced analytics and more.
Technology Demonstration Room
Existing and potential vendors and partners can showcase transformative tools and products, enabling us to evaluate their benefits for possible integration into our system and beyond.
The Sharp Experience Room
This dedicated space allows teams to celebrate achievements and hold staff retreats or workshops.
Modern Recipe Café
Food, beverages and catering orders are prepared fresh on-site in our commercial kitchen.
Major event spaces
A spacious auditorium, multiple modern conference rooms and beautiful outdoor venues are available for hosting a wide array of events and seminars.
Within this welcoming, new space, the people of Sharp will forge, foster and share solutions to health care’s biggest challenges — those we face today and the ones that await us in the future.
