$28.070 - $28.070 - $30.880The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Under the direction of the Clinical Manager or designee, the individual in this position will act as the outside attendant and control operator during clinical treatment using hyperbaric (HBOT) chambers. The individual accepts responsibility and accountability for working within the framework of appropriate regulatory body where it applies and follows all wound and hyperbaric medicine hospital policies and procedures. The individual will comply with hospital standards while performing job duties and responsibilities. Competence in these essential functions will be demonstrated through the ability to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- Successful completion of a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) approved hyperbaric medicine introductory training course.
- 1 Year Direct patient care experience
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Other Qualification Requirements
- One of the following licenses are required:
Respiratory Therapist;
Physician Assistant;
Physician;
Active Duty Military Corpsman;
Registered Nurse;
Nurse Practitioner;
License Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN);
Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic
Essential Functions
- The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
Patient Care and Monitoring
Delivers patient care immediately before, during, and after HBO treatment per policy and scope of practice.
Monitors patients during treatment for symptoms such as oxygen intolerance, claustrophobia, hypoglycemia, decompression sickness, and other adverse reactions.
Appropriately intervenes during adverse reactions under direction of Clinical Manager or designee, following protocols.
Performs clinical tasks including vital signs, blood sugars, and emergency procedures within scope and policy.
Demonstrates competence in reinforces age-specific patient and family education related to HBO therapy and associated disease processes.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Operations
Understands and applies physiological principles relevant to HBO treatment.
Operates chamber controls to pressurize and depressurize according to physician orders and policies.
Monitors and ensures accurate delivery of treatment gas as ordered.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of HBOT chamber operations to ensure efficacy and safety.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
Documents all aspects of care clearly and concisely, including chamber settings, treatment duration, patient response, and observations.
Maintains accurate chamber operation logs including time, pressure, depth, etc. according to established protocols.
Documents equipment checks per facility policies.
Equipment and Maintenance
Performs chamber and support system maintenance under Clinical Manager’s or designee guidance.
Cleans chamber after each use following manufacturer guidelines and infection control protocols.
Maintains emergency equipment and supplies in HBO area.
Technical Competency
Operates, maintains and ensures safety of the hyperbaric facility and all associated supportive systems and equipment while in charge of a treatment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to complete a two-person lift, wheelchair to exam table or bed to stretcher, required.
- Intermediate computer software skills including word processing and spreadsheet functions, required.
