$80.600 - $104.000 - $127.400The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Accountable for coordinating the ongoing development and productivity of a work unit or units and for maintaining the quality of care within that work unit and or programs. Assists the Director with operational planning and provides daily work direction to achieve unit level of care and organizational objectives. Contributes to budget development and maintains responsibility for achieving budgetary objectives.
Supervises staff; including hiring, coaching and counseling, and assuring performance appraisals are completed. Assures that productivity and quality are tracked and maintained. Collaborates with Director, with Interdisciplinary Team to standardize, update and/or maintain policies and procedures. Assures quality care and compliance with internal standards and regulatory and accreditation bodies. Collaborates with marketing and community care departments regarding the development, marketing, implementation and evaluation of programs as appropriate. Assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for unit/units supervised. Participates as directed in the annual operational planning process. Executes priorities to ensure implementation of operation plan within the work unit or units. Promotes staff accountability and empowerment through formal and informal mechanisms. Customer serviced: Patients, physicians, peers, staff, consumers, coworker, directors, and other senior administrators.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a health related field.
- 3 Years experience in cardiovascular service and/or cath lab.
- 2 Years experience in leadership.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Essential Functions
- Quality
Maintains quality patient care through use of clinical expertise, nursing process and effective supervisory skills.
Participates in both unit and level of care quality assurance process.
Reviews or coordinates the review of quality variance reports for designated unit or units, identifies trends, and develops action plans for resolution.
Identifies and trends learning needs of staff and works with Senior Specialists to assure needs are met.
Assures that the standards of care are implemented and evaluated, and updated.
Assures delivery of quality patient care that meets all accreditation and regulatory standards.
Reviews, revises, develops, and maintains safety policies and procedures related to department activities and work environment. Reviews current operations and assesses appropriateness of and compliance with safety policies. Works proactively with Biomed, Risk Management and others to engage ongoing compliance. - Financial Management
Maintains operating unit or units within budgeted cost per UOS. Develops achievable action plans when actual exceeds budgeted cost per UOS.
Contributes to the identification of and operationalizes cost reduction measures or identifies revenue enhancing opportunities.
Maintains unit and or units productivity greater than 97% overall.
Participates in annual budget development. - Business and Program Development
Develops/manages the strategic/tactical plan and annual business plan for service lines that integrate with organizational and system wide service line goals
Identifies ideas and insights into clinical improvements to generate new business or improved services
Develops financial analysis of new programs and services to ensure financial viability and fiscal impacts.
Incorporates knowledge of external factors, regulations and healthcare policies, which affect reimbursement for services.
Maintains ongoing analysis of performance and monitors trends and opportunities. Initiates and recommends service and quality improvements to meet changing market needs.
Collaborates with the system and hospital vice presidents and directors to provide strategic planning and implementation of new programs and services.
Generates ideas and insights into marketing opportunities.
Collaborates with marketing to promote new programs and services. - Human Resource Management
Assures that staff performance appraisals are conducted in a timely manner.
Coaches, counsels and institutes developmental and corrective action plans as necessary.
Assures appropriate staff and skill mix for optimal unit functioning.
Assures that all pertinent information is provided to staff through staff meetings and other forms of formal and informal communication.
Enable staff to participate in scheduling and staffing. Assure schedule is posted within designated time frame.
Assists staff to access services provided by Human Resources, EAP, etc.
Maintains up-to-date employee records. - Leadership
Effectively institutes change, supporting unit, level of care and organizational goals.
Maintains a positive and productive relationship with the medical staff, peers, patients, families, directors and senior administrator.
Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, Sharp employees, physicians, patients and visitors.
Identifies unit level of care, or organizational problems, develops and/or contributes to a plan to resolve problems. Implements and/or assists with plans to achieve resolution.
Trends patient satisfaction and implements action plans as necessary to achieve patient satisfaction.
Identifies and trends the needs of the customers served within SHC service line and implements action plans as necessary to achieve customer satisfaction.
Demonstrates effective team building. - System Integration
Leads and/or participates on task forces for system integration.
Collaborates on a routine basis with specialty service line staff.
Facilitates information sharing and project coordination where appropriate between facilities.
Develops collaborative relationships with cardiac and vascular system staff, other departments, healthcare committees, physicians, and other agencies to facilitate and support quality services and financial viability.
Establishes and maintains a communication system with individuals/agencies providing or supporting service line and program development.
Uses communication strategies with individuals and groups that result in achievement of intended outcomes.
Facilitates the integration of appropriate personnel into high performing teams.
Communicate clearly and effectively with clinical managers and medical directors in provision of education to nursing staff and noncompliant physicians - Service Line Committees
Active participant in applicable Supervisory Committees.
Active participant in system cath lab manager meetings and/or cardiovascular leadership meetings, physician meetings or other pertinent meetings. - Professional Responsibility
