Additional Shift Information:

Per Diem (8 hour shifts). Requirement of at least one Saturday overnight per schedule. Overnight call and shift coverage required as needed. Must cover varying available shifts, days, evenings, overnights, weekday and weekend days.

Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$28.100 - $35.040 - $39.240


This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 4/10/26 – 4/17/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.


What You Will Do
Under general supervision, the non invasive cardiology technician (AKA EKG technician) will perform all non invasive EKG, stress test and monitoring exams. Provide quality patient care and assist physicians as needed. Must be able to identify basic cardiac arrhythmia's and alert physician as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Other : Satisfactory completion of EKG training program (ROP or equivalent) in EKG and arrhythmia recognition and with documented clinical hours performed in EKG modality.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year experience.

  • EKG Certificate of completion.


Essential Functions

  • Computer skills
    Able to query ordered EKG exams in the electronic medical record.
    Able to navigate and obtain only necessary information within a patient's medical record to successfully complete exam.
    Able to verify electronic results.
    Able to successfully navigate within the scheduling system.
    Able to perform all necessary duties within the Cardiovascular PACS system
  • EKG data management
    Verifies patient's symptoms for appropriate order.
    Able to verify and place correct order in the EMR and MUSE.
    Able to query or manually enter accurate patient demographics into the EKG cart.
    Uploads all verified EKG's to MUSE.
    Ensures all records have serial comparison if available.
    Updates records with correct order number and visit number.
    Routes unconfirmed EKG's to appropriate readers in-basket in MUSE.
  • Produce high quality exams
    Able to perform all core and specialized EKG and stress exams with a competency level of 2 or above.
    Perform all exams according to written protocol and/or department guideline.
    Ensures Patient receives instructions and understands procedure
    EKG and stress exams performed with minimum baseline artifact.
    Leads applied and placed with 100% accuracy.
    Workload triaged efficiently
    Coordinates nuclear stress test with Imaging Department.
    Ensures all necessary documentation is placed in the reader's box in a timely fashion.
  • Quality assurance
    Verifies 2 patient identifiers before beginning exam.
    Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions and sterile techniques.
    Observes the patient, reports any changes in status, and initiates appropriate action to ensure a positive outcome.
    Follows patient's Advanced Directive, if applicable.
    Follows HIPAA guidelines for PHI as appropriate
    Stays current in EKG practices by way of continuing education.
    Assists in equipment maintenance and documents events.
    Able to provide assistance and training to floor staff performing EKG's.
    - Able to effectively troubleshoot or call the help desk for assistance.
