$67.860 - $78.740 - $89.620The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp HealthCare and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL-CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.
What You Will Do
Bachelors prepared nurse who applies clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice within a specialty area and functions in the following roles: clinical expert, educator, researcher, and consultant. Leadership skills (system thinker and change agent) are role assumptions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Graduate of accredited WOC Nurse education program.
- 2 Years Recent pertinent clinical experience as defined by the CBA.
- 3 Years Nursing experience.
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 Year Recent home health.
- 2 Years Acute care experience.
- 1 Year Certified WOCN experience.
Essential Functions

Participates in activities that promote the nursing profession/specialty area; and/or
Obtains/maintains professional specialty certification as required. - Directs others through expert nursing knowledge and the use of resources to achieve and/or maintain the standard of care.
Improves outcomes due to interventions with others; and/or
Collaborates with members of healthcare team in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating care for wound, ostomy, continence patients; and/or
Assists with the evaluation of education activities to determine their impact on the quality of care; and/or
Evaluates efficacy and safety of products, devices, and technology; and/or
Collaborates with purchasing department to establish and track wound and ostomy care costs. - Plans, directs, organizes, implements and evaluates the educational requirements/needs for staff, physicians, patients, families and other healthcare providers as related to designated specialty, provides opportunities for professional growth.
Assess the learning needs of patients, families and staff in collaboration with members of the healthcare team.
Plans, provides, coordinates and evaluates patient/family and staff education; and/or
Develops and maintains department specific nursing competency program. - Provides for current and evidence based practice by using and/or sharing applicable research.
Evaluates and implements current research/evidence based practice to improve patient outcomes; and/or
Participates in or provides leadership in clinically based, relevant research, adheres to human rights guidelines for research; and/or
Improves outcomes through Performance Improvement activities; and/or
Evaluates efficacy, utilization and safety of products, devices, and new technology and best practice, makes recommendations for practice changes. - Through support of the nursing process, applies evidenced-based practice to identified patient populations with inclusion of age/culturally appropriate approach, evaluation of trends, innovative solutions, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Consultation requests are prioritized and addressed, based on acuity and need.
Establishes and promotes interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
Collaborates with healthcare team to develop plan of care.
Evaluates outcomes of the plan of care and modifies as needed.
Serves as liaison between the inpatient and outpatient areas to ensure continuity of care.
Maintains record and statistics on wound, ostomy, continence patients.
Patient population clinical outcomes improved as evidenced by decreased prevalence and incidence rates.
Resolves educational deficits; and/or
Develops new area of expertise/skill acquisition applicable to role.
