$27.370 - $27.370 - $30.110

What You Will Do
Assists Pharmacists and the Department of Pharmacy at Tri-City Medical Center in ordering, preparing, and distributing medications. Prepares IV additives and solutions as required using aseptic technique. Responsible for ordering and restocking supplies, and maintaining the IV room and pharmacy in a neat and orderly manner.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • IV admixture experience, required (OP Infusion Center only)
  • California Pharmacy Technician License (TCH) - CA State Board of Pharmacy; OR California Intern Pharmacist - CA State Board of Pharmacy -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • Six (6) months hospital pharmacy experience
  • Pyxis med station and CII Safe experience.
  • Chemotherapy preparation experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board -PREFERRED


Essential Functions

  • The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. They should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. The characteristics of the position and standards of performance may be changed by TCMC with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.
    1. Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
    2. Scans medications into and out of carousel and C2 safe at all times. Scans medications being refilled into automated dispensing machine (ADM) at all times ensuring correct medication is being restocked.
    3. Delivers patient medications to individual nursing stations. This includes STAT bags, ADM loads, ADM refills & IV medications. Checks nursing floors for items unused to be brought back to the pharmacy for reuse or destruction. Ensure STAT medications are filled and delivered timely. Utilizes scanning device to scan medications delivered to the floors, ensuring item is delivered to the appropriate place.
    4. Prepares bulk medications using unit dose system. Prepares any non-sterile special items that need to be compounded. Restock crash carts, miscellaneous kits, floor stock requisitions as needed. Assists with putting the wholesale or other direct orders away.
    5. Maintains appropriate garbing, cleaning and maintenance of the Clean Room Suite and all equipment including Laminar Airflow Hood and BSC hood per USP797 and CA State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Monitors refrigerator temperatures, room temperatures and differential pressures in the HD, Ante and Clean Room. Documents all activities online daily.
    6. Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and orderly manner. Properly stores, handles and disposes of IV medications and supplies, including hazardous medications and supplies.
    7. Uses the C2 safe appropriately and runs compare report daily to catch any discrepancies and notifies Controlled Substance Technician or manager.
    8. Prepares all admixtures utilizing aseptic technique. Prioritizes admixture preparation for multiple patients.
    9. Routinely checks expiration dates in ADM and in the pharmacy; removing outdated medications and putting in the appropriate area.
    10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
