Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$63.400 - $81.810 - $100.210


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Works directly with the SCMG CFO and other senior leaders and is responsible for strategic and tactical planning, business development, monthly performance analysis, and financial stewardship. This new position will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust financial planning function including budgeting, performance metrics and analytic tools. Will be responsible for driving financial analysis for SCMG's primary business as well as other SCMG entities including Metis, Focus Health and SharpCare.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 7 Years experience in accounting or finance to include: financial planning, managing profitability, strategic planning, vision, quality management, process improvement, forecasting, corporate finance (including DCF analysis), developing budgets/annual Plans, process documentation, etc.
  • 3 Years experience in the healthcare industry.
  • 4 Years management experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 Years Experience with mergers and acquisitions or physician practices.


Essential Functions

  • Key Responsibilities
    Works closely with key executives of Sharp Community Medical Group and Sharp Healthcare (SHC) to develop finance organizational strategies and objectives by contributing financial and accounting information, and analysis in line with organizational objectives.
    Directs preparation of annual budgets for all SCMG entities and establishes annual planning process. Presents plans to SCMG senior management and non-financial staff and ensures the financial goals are understood.
    Leads and executes ad-hoc financial modeling of potential investment opportunities, acquisitions and ROI for new initiatives.
    Directs planning as it relates to project implementation, execution and delivery of expected end results participating in all facets including proposal preparation to presentation/support and final analysis.
    Ensures compliance with financial requirements established by the Board, law, and/or regulation. Maintains finance’s presence and contributes in various division and corporation level committees and teams. Develops and ensures implementation of systems of internal control, and written process documentation for all relevant processes.
    Flexibility in assuming all other duties not described but in keeping with the intent of a Director of Finance position. In the absence of SCMG CFO, Director is responsible for assuming roles and responsibilities of CFO and communicating and directly supporting the SCMG CEO, COO, and other senior leaders.

    Develops and implements strategic planning aligned to organization vision and/or service-culture initiatives.
    Holds self and others accountable for maintaining and operating an effective workforce for assigned units or departments.
    Holds self and others accountable for maintaining staff compliance with all contract agreements, human resources, regulatory and organizational policies, and receive coaching, counseling, and developmental or corrective action plans in accordance with Sharp policies, as necessary.
    Mentors others in developing new skills and assuming new responsibilities.
    Facilitates the constructive resolution of inter-group/interdisciplinary conflict and leads initiatives that results in improved teamwork.
    Ensures that all pertinent information is disseminated to staff through staff meetings and other forms of formal and informal communication.
    Manage staff including hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and assuring that performance appraisals are completed on time. Plans for the efficient and effective use of workloads.
  • Quality
    Holds self and others accountable for the quality of work delivered and for operational excellence.
    Establishes department specific quality goals, connecting the vision to the necessary actions and long-term strategies.
    Ensures operational compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Finance
    Develops, collaborates and implements cost reduction measures or revenue enhancing opportunities for the department.
    Accepts responsibility for own financial actions and outcomes.
    Actively participates, contributes, collaborates and monitors compliance in the development of budget standards, capital budget, vendor management and contract development for the department.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Board quality written and oral presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to form relationships with physicians, senior management, the Board, SHC counterparts, financial institutions and outside parties.
  • Position requires ability to meet deadlines, supervise analytic staff and interface with numerous external groups, i.e., physicians, attorneys, brokers, and regulatory agencies.
